Why I hate using hair straighteners

*finishes straightening hair*

"I am turning the straighteners off."

"I am walking to the plug socket in the wall."

"I am watching myself pull the plug out of the wall."

"I am re-checking the empty socket before leaving the room."

"I am getting in my car."

"I am ready to leave."

*starts pulling out of drive*

*starts wondering*

*remembers straighteners auto-shut off after 1 hour so it's fine either way*

...

...

...

"Fuck."

*gets out of car and runs back into house to check empty socket*

Ah I have this too. I managed to leave my door unlocked for a whole weekend once (plus one of my bags on the doorstep). Luckily I was living in a super safe area at the time and nothing happened. Definitely a wake up call though!

Nothing worse than the tell tale “I left them on all day” smell that hits you when you walk in the door and stops your heart dead

If I am distracted I take a pic on my phone then I can assure myself they are off and not burning the house down

That's a good idea!

Knowing me though I'd probably convince myself that I got possessed by a demon who made me plug them back in and then forget about it

This is why I've got a WiFi smart plug for my ghd®. I can turn them off from the bus, just in case.

Ooo this is interesting! I was thinking about a timer plug but this could work too.

So many times have I had to come back or ask next door to check for me I’m leaving my hair natural now so that concern is currently a thing of the past
