What's your favourite? Do you go for the usual ones or have you discovered a little gem that you want to share. I like the harder ones like gruyere, manchego, kefalotyri, compte etc. But also like a good blue cheese or some soft ricotta from time to time and of course could not do without sime feta or a bit of mozzarella. You got it, I love cheese |

Grew up hating Brie and Camembert but now I enjoy a baked Camembert and would love to do one of those recipes where you hollow out a cob load, put the cheese in and bake til it’s all runny…… but there’s only one of me, so can’t justify it.
I like Edam, mozzarella, mild cheddar, and all those sample pieces you never know the name of at agriculture shows, like the one I’m going to on Friday, also Port Salut & my absolute favourite Cornish Yarg! |

"Comte and similar. It baffles me why UK cheesemakers don't make more adventurous cheeses instead of 'mousetrap' Cheddar."
They do, you just haven’t found them yet |

Yes there are lots of different ones to try out in those shows. Some local delis often encourage you to try different ones too. As long as they don't realise you went for your lunch at there cheese counter |

Go to Google and search for Scottish cheese, Taste of Scotland should come up, good suggestions there, also Cheddar is made in Oban, Orkney and other islands, each one is different, some are smoked, some are flavoured with pickled onion, chilli. I’m off to the Royal Highland Show on Friday so there will be many many cheeses there, and will see which one got a prize |

North Norfolk area |
Roquefort, strong enough to make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth. With a crusty French stick or baguette, pickled shallots (pickled with peppercorns) and a glass or two of a big red.
A bit peckish now |

"I only like plain old mild cheddar "
If you like that, you’d like Cornish yarg, it’s similar but a bit creamier, still a hard cheese with mild flavour. I’m not keen on the garlic one though |
