Have you seen this film? We saw it last night and thought it was excellent. Emma Thompson plays a woman who has had a very boring sex life, and decides to hire a male escort played by Daryl McCormack to have the sexual experiences she has craved but never had.
It's really sex-positive, talks frankly about sex for an older woman, and has a good few laughs in it.
If you haven't seen it, we recommend it. If you had seen it, what did you think? |

It is on my to watch list, I read that Emma Thompson took the role because she felt hollywood needed to tell sex related and body positive stories about older women... and I for one am happy she is doing so! |

I saw it yesterday. It is excellent.
Not one word in that script is wasted. Emma Thompson is what you would expect. Daryl McCormack is new to me (I haven't seen Peaky Blinders). Well, just wow!

It is about an older woman younger guy scenario. It is a story that involves sex work, from both sides of the equation, but much more about dynamics, communication, and the stories we tell ourselves that hold us back.

The fact that it's a dynamic between an older woman seeking a young male escort is integral to her awakening. It isn't at all 'seedy' and seeks to dispel that myth.
What Emma Thompson does at the end, when she was alone in the room, in the last moments of the film was marvellous. I often see threads and posts relating to that issue. It is obviously not an uncommon sentiment and that scene was a statement to everyone to look beyond that in themselves. |

Even though the film is only in one room I was captivated! It must be so liberating for people in real life like her to open up to guilt free sex.
I meet a lot of sexually frustrated and inexperienced married guys and their approach to sex can be similar to hers. I find myself having to manage their expectations like he had to. |

It’s a brilliant movie and has well observed attitudes on age, sex, relationships, families. All done amusingly, touchingly, insightfully and I loved it!!!   |
