Wine. Search out some decent vintage wine.
Or a watch. These are the two things that if I was to invest for a risk/return I would look at.
The watch wouldn’t make much but I do like watches, and I get to wear it in the mean time So I’d edge my bets on the wine…. If it doesn’t. I get to pop a cork. |

Not a great investment for me, I would drink it immediately |

Crypto seems to be on its arse at the moment. Not sure if/when it will recover. Might be worth buying a small amount while just worth nothing. And I mean small, not a grand |

Forbes ran an article about it a little while back. Plenty of Whisky investment specialists about now |

I hate to say it but £1k is chump change these days and isn't gonna make anyone much money. If I had a sudden 1k windfall I'd probably spend it on a week away somewhere - it's about enough for a flight and a modest daily food and drink budget.
If I was dead set on using it to make money then the easiest method for me at least would be to bid on an item or items at auction on ebay then flip them at a fixed price. I've had pretty good luck in the past buying job lots and splitting them, or items I have some knowledge of the values ie musical instruments or vintage alloy wheels. The trouble is whenever I get a truly decent bargain I'm always too tempted to keep it for myself and not sell on. |

An ex colleague of mine was into rare whisky. He was also getting paid to go and drink other people's through a dodgy whisky club. Works like this.
Rare whisky. 100 bottles only, worth £10k each. Guy who owns a bottle will pay someone to go to an establishment known to have a whisky collection and pay them to have a drink from it. Now there are 99 unopened bottles. Price goes up.

Only knvest £1000 if you can afford to loose it. Regardless of which one you choice.
However. Me, I invest mine into crypto. After all it does more then just sitting in the bank.
But investing now. I'd go crypto. The market is 70%+ down. After the craze during covid and the price rises. Its finally down to a price for people to buy in before the rise in web3. |

I’m looking for something fun but ethical. My dogs are rescued. There are far too many unwanted pups in the world, we don’t need to add to the problem. |

I’m not 100% but I think they’re saying buy a Lego set that is going out of production and then hold on to it and re sell it for more |

"Lego sets going end of life this year.
Interesting! How does one find out which ones are going end of life?
"
Lego group release a list ahead of time of sets that are going end of life/will be discontinued at the ens of the year. Its only lego investors/resellers or adult fans that tend ro be aware of it, most just assume they are always making more.
Some sets become very valuable, doubling or more their original sale price.
Even open and used sets can command a decent asking price.

Are you looking to make lots and quickly ? Set up an OF page.
Share prices are low at the moment but they would be long term investments and you’d get some ok dividends. Eg the banks or Big IT are low right now. |

I remember reading that the old Star Wars Lego sets were worth more per gram than gold. |

Depends on how much risk Vs time frame you are wanting to wait.
Risky would be crypto, a safer bet would be an index fund like the S&P500 which invests in the top 500 stocks in America (Apple, Facebook, etc) but that would be a slow burner and you would have to keep investing the returns so it compounds.
That always goes up over enough time. |

"You have £1000.
What are you going to do with it to make the biggest return?
Crypto? Stocks and shares? An ISA? Something else? "
Going by some of the responses to certain threads today.....
I'd buy 1000 pairs of £1 primani thongs, get the OH to wear them all day and then do a half hour sweaty session on the stepper, then I'd pop them on overnight and stick them up for sale next day claiming they'd been worn by a nubile 20something hottie for three days straight.
I reckon I'd be £9k richer in no time.

One anecdotal story doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t try to rescue dogs. I’ve always had rescues and never had an issue. Research and finding the right breed and the right dog takes time and effort. It’s a stressful time for a dog being rehomed and it has to be done correctly and with care.
There’s far too many animals in shelters that need loving homes, I think breeding should be heavily regulated in fact. |

It depends what timescale you’re looking for a return and how much risk you are prepared to accept for the return. I have a lot of belief in the crypto markets even with the current major down turn, i hold quite a bit of Ethereum and even though it’s currently at a loss, I think the low price at the moment is a good investment and would buy more if I had spare cash, but be prepared that it may drop further before it goes back up again and the timescale for growth won’t necessarily be short term |
