Love these work from home days mainly because I get to make banging lunches.
Wholemeal tortilla wrap with falafel, lettuce, sriracha and homemade tzatziki with fucktons of garlic.
*heavy breathing*
What are you all having today folks? |

Yours sounds much better though "
Ooh chop the broccoli really fine, sautée with some onion, garlic, stock and a dash of milk, then stir it through the pasta. Will add some flavour and creaminess without affecting your macros too much |

Ah I usually get a load of salad components from the Tesco next door and assemble it all together, takes like five minutes. I get lunch breaks, I just like to watch Netflix during them |

I don’t eat all the components at the same time. I’ll have the naked drink for breakfast and then usually get the popcorn which either the kids will have or I’ll eat over two days |

It's mad isn't it that you can get naked/starbucks etc as part of the meal deal. One bottle almost costs as much as the meal deal itself. Such good value
Shame about the sugar otherwise I would totally take advantage |

I’ll have to take a look, I am able to cook and actually love to cook from scratch but I find cooking for one or for two kids that only care if it’s nuggets rather depressing so I’ve fallen into a really bad habit of living off snacks except when the kids are home for a full weekend when I will do a good amount of veg and salad, that’s only fortnightly though so it’s a high sugar diet with 3 days of veg for me |

I go through periods of losing my appetite and basically end up living off snacks because I don't want to prepare food I might not eat and there are ways to do it more healthily. Nuts, dried fruit, cheese snacks, yoghurts, houmous and an apple or carrot stick snack bag, etc. |

they are good and both eat a lot of veg but weekday nights can be busy so I do simple quick food then and the weekends I’ll go all out on well cooked food, they grumble but do eat it. Tonight we are having fish, baby potatoes, baby corn and green beans and they will eat that no problem, it’s mainly me stuck in a rut and easier to cave to the request of nuggets |

Cos I've got shit loads to do today I was thinking of perhaps a poached egg in vinegar (black Chinese vinegar), on buttered toast whilst I defrost a piece of ham ready for boiling. Then squeeze a Tonkatsu sauce over the egg.
I really want soup but it's a bit too hot for that!
Perhaps a packet of crisps 1st then...? |

I’ll have to take a look, I am able to cook and actually love to cook from scratch but I find cooking for one or for two kids that only care if it’s nuggets rather depressing so I’ve fallen into a really bad habit of living off snacks except when the kids are home for a full weekend when I will do a good amount of veg and salad, that’s only fortnightly though so it’s a high sugar diet with 3 days of veg for me
Ah can you not bribe them?
I just suddenly got flashbacks of my parents threatening me with violence if I didn't eat what was on my plate
they are good and both eat a lot of veg but weekday nights can be busy so I do simple quick food then and the weekends I’ll go all out on well cooked food, they grumble but do eat it. Tonight we are having fish, baby potatoes, baby corn and green beans and they will eat that no problem, it’s mainly me stuck in a rut and easier to cave to the request of nuggets "
Ooh are they at an age where they could make nuggets from scratch with you? I remember my mum teaching me stuff like how to bread chicken when I was young (before I went veggie), and then I was able to make myself dinners. Plus it's great bonding time - and it tastes so much better! |

I go through periods of losing my appetite and basically end up living off snacks because I don't want to prepare food I might not eat and there are ways to do it more healthily. Nuts, dried fruit, cheese snacks, yoghurts, houmous and an apple or carrot stick snack bag, etc.
I’m a little spiral of cake fixes everything at the moment but yes I really should swap the snacks for better choices "
It can be tough can't it when you're stuck in a rut of using it for comfort . Given time though I find I can retrain my cravings. I've gone off sweet stuff as a result which helps |

I was just chatting to a PT friend about this today. A few years ago I started putting spices in every meal. Over time I went off sweet stuff. Apparently its partially to do with replacing bacteria in your gut that send signals to tell you to eat sweet stuff to feed it.

"Chicken thighs in baharat, smoked chilli and garlic with mushrooms, asparagus and mange tout.
Made my mouth and belly very happy
Ooh I bet it did, that sounds delicious !
I opened the fridge pulled out a couple of veggies and the chicken and picked the first couple of spices in the cupboard.
Tbh I mainly use paprika, mixed herbs and chilli flakes. Definitely need to break out of my spice rut
I have a whole cupboard full of different herbs, spices, mustards, sauces...
Lol I have three. They are mainly there to look pretty and take up space. Or get used in the one curry I make per month to keep my Asian identity membership going "
I've got more than 3 spices in my cupboard, and I am an Asian guy! You can't cook a decent curry with only 3 spices. |

Yeah. It can be a bit much. During lockdown 1 I made everything from scratch. Just meat, spices and veggies/salad.
When things opened up I had a craving for fish n chips. I had 6 mouthfuls. All I could taste was grease and salt. |

"Cos I've got shit loads to do today I was thinking of perhaps a poached egg in vinegar (black Chinese vinegar), on buttered toast whilst I defrost a piece of ham ready for boiling. Then squeeze a Tonkatsu sauce over the egg.
I really want soup but it's a bit too hot for that!
Perhaps a packet of crisps 1st then...?
Woweeee I've never had vinegar poached eggs?! Do you fully cook them in vinegar? Or just add vinegar to the water? I imagine this is stinky? So many questions wow

Yep, you add vinegar to water. It smells only slightly though.
Yes, I know what you mean via Korean food. I went to a self service restaurant that Chinese students went to. I had to ask what to do. A very nice polite student told me what to do. Ended up cracking an egg in noodles with broth. Cooked it at my table too! |

Ohh yeah like Vietnamese Pho where you cook your meat and veggies in hot broth at the table
Koreans do a type of summertime noodle soup though where they add ice cubes to a soup base to make it super cold, then add cooked noodles and cold garnishes such as cucumber, radishes, boiled egg. I've not had it myself but it's meant to be super tasty. |

If you are in ketosis your brain will be more resilient to the drop in glucose which is its preferred energy source. |

Yeah if your heavy on carbs and drop everything your gonna hit a wall pretty quick when those carbs run out. Much easier if your already out of carbs. Then it’s just the hungry you have to deal with |

If you are in ketosis your brain will be more resilient to the drop in glucose which is its preferred energy source.
Yeah if your heavy on carbs and drop everything your gonna hit a wall pretty quick when those carbs run out. Much easier if your already out of carbs. Then it’s just the hungry you have to deal with "
This.
Once you've switched your fuel source you're essentially just running off your own fat. As long as you keep your hydration and electrolytes up it's just mind over matter (and hunger hormones). |

"Fasting today, so an egg, a babybel and cucumber, plus a glass of kombucha
Ah I wish I was still good at fasting! My willpower needs some serious work
Also decided I wanted to take a bm without ripping my ass open at some point, hence why I added fibrous carbs back in today
It’s really hard to start fasting, but once you’ve done the first few, it’s really easy.

Ahh, that makes sense, I don’t eat loads of carbs anyway so maybe that’s why I’ve managed to go back to it more easily, whereas in the past it’s taken me a few attempts to get back to it. |

"2 orgasms and chicken pasta thingy from tesco. - the orgasms did not come from tesco. They were courtesy of love honey
Now you tell me, I was half way to Tesco after reading the first line..."
Now, I’ve just been to tesco to get my lunch for the rest of the week. They are selling lovehoney items so actually, you could well get the orgasms from there too! You’re welcome! |

"Just made a bowl of gains. Chicken thighs in Ethiopian Berbere spice, garlic and smoked chillies with onion, red pepper, padron pepper amd mange tout.
Wicked "
Oooft am I getting an invite?
I was going to do a mélange of sauteed herby spiced veggies with poached eggs and harissa yoghurt. But then someone offered me a portion of the delicious smelling chickpea curry they'd made. Seemed far more appropriate (and I didn't have to cook) |

Of course. I would switch out the chicken for a mix of aubergine and mushrooms for you |
