Tribute bands, what's your view?

Personally I really enjoy them, and to be honest I've never seen a bad one.

Some people see them as little more than kareoki, but they're always accomplished musicians and always put on a good show, at a price most of us can afford.

OK, I'd rather see the "real bands" but they're not all accessable these days, in fact some of 'em aren't even alive, and sadly from experience they don't always live up to their reputations.

We're off to Butlins Skeggy next March to the Bootleg Ball. It will be a good weekend.

And we're going to see a joint show by an AC/DC tribute and ZZ Top tribute next month in Falmouth. We saw them a couple of months ago and for £15 a ticket it's the best night out we've had in ages.

I play in one!

We're called Hot For Teacher and we're a Van Halen tribute. We don't get that many bookings because they're not a massively popular band over here, which is why I also play in a couple of other bands.

I saw Bootleg Beatles when I was a kid and really enjoyed it. I'm too young to have ever seen the real Beatles so was good to get a chance to see a 'close ish' equivalent.

They're good for a bit of fun. I've seen a couple of good, and quite accurate Led Zepp tributes that I was suitably impressed by!

I very nearly went to a Bee Gees tribute night on Friday, however, the idea of being surrounded by 20 somethings put me off, as they were part of the line up for a local club night.

I knew someone who was obsessed with t rex as a teenager

In her 30's she ran off with the lead singer from a t rex tribute band

which I find a bit sad

No that was Gary Mullen he used to do karaoke in The Horseshoe Bar in Glasgow Magic were going long before he was around and think they still are.

Tribute bands are in the main very good and you get more than the 3/4 of an hour that some of the originals think is enough for you 100 quid.

Prefer them to the real thing!

Play what you want to hear, good price tickets, & small venues. Don't like watching ants on a stage/or big screen. Some bands get too big, and have their heads stuck up their arses. Many tributes actually put on a better performance, and love what they do

Well we’ll try and get you a seat right next to the stage so you can boo and hiss between songs….

I saw a Beatles tribute act in Angarrack in Cornwall, it was a concert to raise funds for the Christmas lights... defo worth the £3 entry fee.

I wouldnt mind see a Paul Weller tribute, it can only be better than the real one and half the price

I have seen loads of tribute bands, a lot of the musicians are from the bands of the 60's etc who have continued with their art - and like Jack have never ever seen a bad one ............

Watched possibly the greatest tribute band ever last night...

Zappa Plays Zappa, Dweezil playing his dad's music.

Absolutely unbelievable band and so touching when Dweezil spent the whole of the encore crying while he played Frank's favourite composition 'Strictly Genteel' !

Top night

Going to see ZZ Tops again in Tavistock next Saturday night.

There's a Jimi Hendrix tribute on too as a double bill. Now the way I see it, if you're doing a Jimi tribute, you've gotta be a bloody damn good guitarist, or have bollox like space hoppers
