Tom, m'old mucka.
The church has many faults and failings throughout history, yet none quite as much as the UK in general, especially those who made a lot of wealth out of exploiting others (they still do but that's a different matter).
Sure, the church has done bad things, but these days they are pretty moderate, so why does that preclude them from having an opinion and taking a stance? |

After all, the Bible not only says "let he who is without sin cast the first stone". But it also says "for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" and (paraphrasing) don't criticise the speck in your brother's eye before dealing with the log in your own.
I'm so glad that the UK is a Christian nation, one that examines its own flaws rather than lashing out at others and doing things like breaking treaties and international law. That it remembers the persecution of Jesus when he was forced to become a refugee as a baby
Yeah, but all these Nazarenes are feeding the illegal trafficking gangs and the only way to stop that is to send people to Rwanda. There's literally no other solution. Not one.
Well there is. All the government has to do is provide safe and legal routes, that will end the traffickers income in an instant. But it wont as it likes to perpetuate this culture war to keep the racists that voted for them happy. All sending the refugees and migrants to Rwanda does, is punish them for wanting to escape war zones or a better life.

I studied Biblical studies in school until I was fifteen, and it was reasonably in depth. No longer religious, can rattle off verses pretty easily. |
