I’ve got kids, I always remind them to drink more in hot weather. One has a friend that ended up in A+E with heat stroke because they didn’t drink much on a hot sunny day.
Your advice is dangerous |

Some people in the UK can be rubbish with hot weather - they don't take care, don't wear sunscreen, walk their dogs in 32 degrees. So yes, I think the info is still needed. (I'm an Aussie and the amount of sunburn I see here shocks me every summer - it's bloody dangerous). |

"Of course it’s needed. Too many people are thick as fuck! Or have you not noticed?!"
I had a friend - who would mix baby oil & suntan lotion?
He was cooked like a kipper in the hot weather.
Guess what? He got Cancer, lived in a very hot country. Came back now & then & got treatment. Have not seen him in years. Friends I know have not seen him. I do think he's dead now.... cos at one point when he came back & it was quite serious. Very strange....
So, agreed, Some people are as thick as pig shit!!! What a surprise. |

My mum had a brush with skin cancer when I was a kid. I take the sun seriously. Skin cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the UK. So easy to avoid the risk. |

Not just that though. Dogs left in cars, dogs being walked in this heat, even people going on journeys without water. A1 near me was shut for 9 hours. People stuck in that with no water! And like someone said above my youngest definitely needs to be reminded to drink more! |

"I wonder how people cope in hot countries millions must die every year "
I am from a hot country. Australians don't behave like Brits do in hot weather. They're careful. |

"I'm from Italy get very hot there and for a long time not 2 days warning of how to behave not needed "
Yes, I was making the same point. Very few days of above 30 weather in the UK, so people don't deal with it well. |

How would you deal with sub zero temperature? Blizzards and extreme snow?… if it’s not normal for where you live then you may need a reminder on how to deal with it.none of this is “nanny state”, it’s just good advice to the public |

A question for the thread, how do you call out people walking their dogs in this?
Proper softie for animals and I hate seeing people walking their struggling dog in this heat. But telling them is never met with anything other than anger.
I just want the little doggos to be ok. Be a responsible pet owner and walk them very early, or very late in a shaded area. But I see endless people walking their dog in the hottest part of the day. Breaks my heart |

I agree, people should also look after their animals and do the right thing whether it's extremely hot or extremely cold. A few years back I could not believe my eyes when I saw this woman walking her dog in the sun and had a little tiny umbrella on to cover its head. My jaw literally just dropped |

Annoys the hell out of me. If it’s too hot to put your hand on the floor for five seconds it’s too hot for your dog.
See dogs bloody midday panting like crazy |

We have no sense though, even when we are abroad, it’s the Brits sat out in the midday sun. Everyone else leaves their sun beds, but we are too obsessed it’ll be nicked by someone else. Total madness!
