Can anyone recommend a good chiropractor

"Chiropractic is pseudoscience nonsense. Better to see a private physio who isn't constrained by NHS guidelines on hands on therapy and there's LOADS of those. "
Completely agree.
I never advise people to go to Chiropractors. Always to private physiotherapists.
I put Chiropactice in the same club as Astrology and Psychic Mediums. |

See I don't this stuff. I went to an NHS one and she kept telling me that my pain shoulder is because of my neck...
Not sure how that is related since I injured my shoulders at the gym performing pec fly exercise. |

Probably because the neck injury resulted in nerve damage, which manifests in the shoulder. There isn't much a physio, NHS or private, can do for nerve damage. And yes, chiropractors are one rung below the hospital cleaners in the medical heirarchy. I'd sooner have a witch doctor rattle a bag of chicken bones over me. |

It's called referred pain (damage in one location manifests itself elsewhere).
I have pain throughout my entire left leg, hip, ankle and foot. My left foot is currently crimson and blown up like an elephant. But my injury is deep within my pelvis. My actual leg/foot is perfectly healthy as a leg/foot, but the injury higher up causes problems lower down. |

I've had nerve damage in my neck which travelled to my head and caused awful headaches alongside the pinched nerve in my neck.
Went to the docs put me on gabapentin and codeine. Was horrific. Went to a chiropractor 4 sessions in I was sorted. That was 3 years ago. Do your research and find the right chiropractor and you'll be fine. Yes they are expensive but you find the right one and My god they can heal you! X |

I've never had any neck pain before or right after I injured my shoulders. So how can I injured my neck and never feel it and the shoulder be fine but feel all the pain?
She also said APT is not a big deal for men and my lower back pain is also related to the neck lol |

There is an amazing chiropractor near me who treated my ex on and off for years. On his first consultation, he said if I can't make a significant difference to you in 2 weeks, I am not the man for you. After being told by a physiotherapist that he would be in a wheelchair within two years, my ex was back at work in a manual job within the two weeks. A couple of times a year he had to go back for a bit of tweaking. Amazing man.
Anyone who has attended him since on our recommendation, has said he was the best they have ever seen. So there are good chiropractors around |

Can't agree with the replies here. There's good and bad chiropractors just as there's good and bad physio's.
A decent chiropractor will take xrays and be registered to the association or institute, it's a triangle motif from memory.
I saw a physio who told me I had 80% movement when I couldn't bend to put socks on or sit in any comfortable position. Thought it was expensive I got my bones cracked and when the disc was focussed on, the difference was immediate.

As has been said...pain in the shoulder can be a symptoms off nerve damage in the neck.
I had this and it was agony. The only thing over time that alleviated it was swimming.
Co codanol helped too.

Manipulating the spine when there's any chance of disc damage or injury is madness. X-rays do not show disc degeneration. Google "Cauda equina syndrome" to see what damage manipulation to a damaged disc could do. Of course, losing bladder and bowel control could be a risk work taking?
Nothing related to chiropractic is valid medically, no matter who they are registered with. It's complete pseudo science. Homoeopathy is also pseudoscience yet it has an entire hospital dedicated to it in London. Just because something has a veneer of respectability does not mean it's based on anything solid. |

Just because it's a pseudoscience doesn't mean there isn't any truth to it. I had multiple issues with my back, neck and hips. I could barely get out of bed some mornings. Doctors and NHS physio did nothing to help. Went to a chiropractor and after 2 weeks saw a massive improvement in mobility. Once I started coupling it with sports massages I saw genuine results. I'm now seeing a private physio but if it wasn't for the chiropractor at the start I doubt I'd have made such a fast recovery. |

You may as well put acupuncture and psychology into the pseudo bracket too, when Dr's administer acupuncture and psychology is a theory but classes itself as scientific.
Chiropractors I'd think (if decent) would advise if of potential for harm, just as some physio's do (but regularly don't). Take my aunt who was put on an exercise programme despite disability and multiple health conditions. Only when she collapsed did they remove her from the programme at the age of 75. |

Ok fuck it, I'm calling the doctor on my next day off. Haven't done jack all and I can barely lift my right arm now...
If she says it's my neck I'll ask for a second opinion |
