Hope everyone is having a great PRIDE MONTH for me, it’s been great this year
On the contrary: I see an increased amount of homophobia online. It happens every year and it’s disheartening.
I’m at the age now where I can just move on and realise that people’s narrow minded opinions aren’t my problem; they are just keyboard warriors.
What I worry about is being out and proud and facing homophobia. I’ve already faced it a few times in public, and all through my school years. I worry for the younger people too.
SO…let’s have some happiness
Are there any pride events you are looking forward to? Any gay things you wanna share? Want to shout out to the world that you are here and queer? Go ahead!! I’m behind you
I hope everyone continues to have a good pride month |

I'm ordering a flag to put up in our front window as my eldest has been nagging me for days about it. She wants rainbows everywhere. We're also continuing our hunt for a t-shirt for her, so many of them are aimed towards adults and not kids it's made it tricky but we are determined to find her one

Primark has a nice pride range out at the moment, and some flags! I don’t know how old your eldest is but they start at XS so you could always alter one down depending on her age? They have things like fake nails, sliders, phone cases etc too! |

It makes me sad that in this day and age we still have, let's face it.. cunts who feel it's necessary to belittle people or make homophobic comments towards people because of their sexual preferences. As a heterosexual man I've never had to put up with any ignorant people feeling its their right to spout shite from their mouths about my sexuality .....tell them to fuck off and do what makes you happy hopefully one day you won't have to listen to such idiots |

Minor thing in the big picture of gay rights and awareness but a big personal bucket list tick for me in the last year has been to visit Allan Turing's memorial bench in Manchester. I support Pride but hate seeing the brand bang wagon commercialisation of it. For me, just visiting and sitting on that bench was humbling. Small actions but I've always admired where we've come from and where we're going too. |

I used to live opposite Sackville Park where Alan is. I said hello to him regularly. |

My work is all over pride right now (is it just marketing, idk, but hell I'm gonna enjoy it either way) with flags and such all over. Those that want to have rainbow scarves, hats etc. and I don't believe we've had any complaints from our customers. Yet. |

It was reported there was a reduction in tolerance for the LBGTQ+ community, not long after brexit reared its ugly head. |

"I don’t see how it should be Pride month, like wft….. you should be able to be comfortable with your sexuality and celebrate it all year round. "
Hey, how can companies sell more shit like that?! |

Wishing everyone a great pride month m
I did see some lovely and appropriate pride items in primark today
Regarding “we should be able to be proud all year around” yes we should, but pride was initially about challenging the prejudices and fighting for change in legislation and treatment of the lgbtqi community which sadly is still a huge issue for many.
Online idiots is the tame end of things generally speaking much worse can happen in real life I’ve friends who are not particularly old who’ve experienced being thrown out of home, losing jobs, losing rental properties, and of course physical and worse assaults just for being them.
It’s 2022 for crying out loud this should not be still happening - that’s why pride month is important |

Unfortunately there are still people, in the UK, who are attacked, threatened and ostracised - it's only just coming up to a year since Dr Gary Jenkins was beaten to death because he was gay.
Homophobic attacks are on the rise in the UK, The government decided that it was acceptable to not ban conversion therapy for Trans people, while pride is a celebration of how we have come - it is still a protest over how far we still have to go! |

I always wanted to go along to a pride festival and get involved, it looks like a great vibe, who doesn’t like a great vibe.
And also along the lines to support people and drown out the homophobic noise. Hopefully one day they realise they are the minority with their hate over something that’s none of their f’king business.
Be gay - straight or anything else, but be a good person is all I ask.

When I took my (straight) bestie to her first Pride she was nervous and thought she wouldn’t be accepted.
Every year since it’s are we doing Pride this year are we doing Pride this year are we doing Pride this year
Get yourself along to one. You’ll love it.

If it helps one or two people come to terms with who they really are, it is worth it being a month long thing. |

You should go! I often go to pride with straight people; it’s nice to just celebrate how far the LGBT community has come! |

I go to dance weekenders and one of theevwnt organisers do an hour in the main hall called Camp Attack. Everyone taking part dress up and yiu woukd think it is great woukdbr you.
But what I have seen as well is that it's amazingly clique. Only an exclusive few are allowed near then stage anyone else is ignored or made ro feel unwelcome.
I tried it once and never again. Spoke to a few people who say the same even those who were gay.
I take people for how theybare not how they identify themselves so I am notbthat impressed with the whole pride thing tbh |

I missed this reply. I will, it’s finding someone to go along with. My days of having lots of real friends that actually go out are gone. And close friends are always busy on the days I’m not.

You honestly would be fime going solo you would soon make friends there. One of the most welcoming communities around most of the time - there is cliqueyness in some quarters yes but that’s true of most communities |
