"Mines just near my heart and says love you mam and dad xxx
My parents both passed away from covid in April 20 and this was taken directly from the last birthday card they got me "
I was thinking about doing that with my nans writing.
My favourite is the cat tattoo on my left thigh, just need to add the second one to the lower half of my leg. |

Angel wings on both my inner arms one with my P inside for my papa and one with G for my gran - I lost both of them in October last year and went with the sentiment of wearing your heart on your sleeve when I choose the placement of them xx |

The one on my left thigh. It’s the Chinese symbol for love and I got it for my partner and my dad who died within 8 months of each other
I often imagine my dad going “but why on your thigh for god’s sake” |

My tough mudder (as its my only one tbf). But I've always wanted a fox entering through my shoulder blade and the head forcing through the front (football mad).
I also wanted a 3d RHCP logo but just never got round to it. |

Mutilate is a strong word! I don't have any (though I really like them; I've just not been brave enough) so not the best person to leap to their defence, but each to their own surely, mate... |

Honestly cannot choose as love them all and each have a meaning/story.
I guess the one that has the most meaning is the one on my calf - American Trad Hand holding flowers. Hand represents my mum (who passed away 2006) daffodils represent my sisters and me (we are very close, daffodils were also my mums favourite flower), pink flower represents my niece (who passed away last year)

I have nothing really meaningful like most posters in this thread, just weird and wacky. I think my favourite is my narwhal catching donuts with its tusk. |

People have tattoos for various reasons and some revoke fond memories for people, if that makes them happy I’d say carry on “mutilating” your bodies |

Mine is the one on my leg. My gran and grandad met in Italy when he was bilitted to her house there in the Italian mountains. A fellow army guy he was close to draw a pic of them for their engagement present. They are looking at a map and he is pointing out where in England they will be living. I just always loved the picture so got it done after my gran died. I have the real picture on the wall in my lounge. |

Some like to buy a painting and hang it on the wall where no one really sees it. I like my artwork to be on my body to carry with me and others can see and appreciate...well not everyone. How would you feel if someone told you your disgusting to look at? Would you tell some one over weight you don't understand why they eat food? |

I'm struggling to understand your logic. OK, some footballers and celebrities have tatoos but then they also wear clothes and breathe and presumably you don't think the rest of society copied that from them? Tatoos have been around far longer than celebrity culture and football so they didn't invent them.
Do you think that statistically footballers and celebrities are more likely to have tattoos than the general population?
You sound like a rather conservative oldie from about 1973, do you find yourself regularly decrying the youth of today? Complaining that men go out without a tie? That you never see a lady wearing hat these days?

My 17 year old does her own stick and poke - I know she'll be in the tattoo parlour once she's 18
I don't have any, I know if I did, after a while I'd be "but I don't like it anymore" |

Bodies get mutilated (to varying degrees) by living in them - I'm sure you've got lots of scars, some of which have stories.
Tattoos are like that to me, but voluntary and more artistic.

This is true, I have lots of scars all over my hands. I think I got them from my pin-dick |

I'm split between ny leg piece which is my favourite artwork, or for sentimental value I have one on my inner bicep which my daughter designed. A quote from the book I read to her almost every night when she was little. She got the opportunity to see the tattoo being done which was especially awesome. Now my daughter is older she goes to my tattoo artist for her own work. |

Good man. Ive often heard that women cope better with the pain than fellas but thats up for debate. I slept through my shoulder and both arm pieces, felt almost relaxing, my big leg piece though is a different story! But it took nearly 7 hrs and the worst was when he added the tiny details, when it cae to wiping it down at the end I wanted to slap him lol Think it may be down to thefact I just couldnt get in a compy position. |

To be honest I think it’s how you are feeling on the day sometimes, my ex had quite a lot and generally they never bothered her but once in a while the pain was worse when she was sitting when it was being done in a normally quite easier area

"Not sure I could choose a fave. I do love my sleeve though. Got it done on two 7 hour sittings on consecutive days
I have a couple of small ones with special meanings.
"
Very unusual for an artist to work the same area on consecutive days, never mind for that long. You must also be a bad ass for letting them! Had a nosey but cant see it in you pics, but then again those boobs are quite the distraction! lol |

It is good to have some sort of distraction. Ive 2 different artists depending on the piece. 1 where i had my shoulder, leg and left arm was in a place with lots going on outside to could get lost being nosey, also he kept me talking. My right forearm which was much bigger than my left arm with much more detail was done in a different shop which was very quiet. The guy, although an awesome artist and i couldnt be happier with the end result, was hard to talk to and I couldnt get much of a conversation going with him, I also cant use my phone with my left hand so that didnt help pass the 6 hrs lol

That would have almost broke me, 6 hours with barely a conversation to be had would have been a slow torture |
