What’s everyone’s feelings on people being naked in public places. Having done the naked London bike ride this weekend I saw two sides of the public. The majorly of people were loving seeing everyone on the bikes but there was also a scattering of people that were very vocal about it being shameful. And on social media people think you must be a pervert or a peado if you get naked outside. We were there to support the event and it’s goals. But also to have a fun unique day out. |

I sympathise to a degree with people who feel that mass public nudity has been inflicted on them without consent. I enjoy naturism but stick to designated areas so as not to catch people unawares.
Some of the more vituperative objections are just nonsense though. |

We are all naked under our clothes!! Some people need to just except that.
It makes me so cross when some people cant distinguish between nudity and sex. It's a sad world. |

It's an interesting question. I personally love naturism and I understand people's views that it's just our body and we shouldn't be ashamed of showing it.
But unfortunately it's not a commonly held view. It feels wrong to throw it on faces of people who didn't sign up for it. Whenever something as subjective is debated upon, my stance has always been to provide people a way to opt out of it.
Comedians like Jimmy Carr and Ricky Gervais make offensive and dark jokes all the time. But you are not forced to hear those jokes. People who buy tickets or watch their shows in Netflix know what they are signing up for. Similarly, such bike ride events at a bar minimum should be advertised around all streets near the route that warns people that they might see nudity in the direction where they are going and hence people have a choice to opt out if it. |

Unnecessary and can be deemed offensive to some people. Who wants to go out for the day and see a pack of bike riders with their meat and veg or saggy tits jiggling about?!
If you want a naked bike ride hire a sports field and have a private event not thrust dicks and tits in bystanders faces |

I do enjoy seeing people showing off and flashing out and about as the daring thrill is a turn on. Fully naked is also horny as well. The issue is that I would never want to offend anyone as that is not the intention in anyway, purely for pleasure for all involved.
I think naked events like the bike ride are great and people really can't take offence and events that are not there to offend people. If you have people wanking and fucking on the route then that would be a different story.
Being on show and naked is natural and love seeing people who enjoy showing off |

I was in San Fran once when they had the big nude gay street fair thing.
It was quite crazy to see as guys were fucking in doorways / group bjs in public and crazy bdsm stuff going on while getting d*unk.
What I didn’t get was civilians would be walking their kids around waving rainbow flags. Really weird I found it as to why you would even risk doing that.
That I didn’t agree with at all .. tits n ass out are one thing but adults getting xxx in full view is just way way ott .

But presumably the parents were aware of the type of event.
Pretty sick of the parents to take the kids. |

I don’t think that anyones nudity should be inflicted on others. If you have choice taken away and have no option to “opt out” of seeing it, that’s when I object.
You shouldn’t go onto a nudist beach and complain about nudity for example but if you’re walking around town shopping and the nudity is “inflicted” then that’s where I have an issue.
Consent. |

I assume all the bystanders we/you are talking about here are adults? What about kids? Teens might find it embarrassing to be outside with a bunch of naked people, younger kids might be traumatised by it.
It’s not for me. |

"I have no issues with nudity in public. Too many prudes in this country. Nobody ever died from seeing a naked body."
So you don't give a shit about consent then. Good for you. |

"What was the goal of the event ?"
I think it has two goals... One to show the vulnerability of cyclists, e.g. no metal box protecting them.
The other to raise green awareness e.g.sweat not oil etc
I guess it also removes the sexual element from nudity as well. As previous poster said "we are all naked under our clothes"
It is a good event to bring this to the forefront as well as having some fun on the day. |

Totally agree with this, very sensible logic.

In the privacy of your own home and in designated spaces then it's more than fine, unfortunately there are the few who deem it sexual and wouldn't hesitate to report it. There are fine lines and limits and if we all stick to them we can all be happy. I have to admit though they are a lot more Liberal in Europe with things like this. We are definitely a nation of prudes! Haha. |

Consent to be naked or clothed?. I would prefer everyone to be naked. It's only flesh and bone after all. |

I think the concern is less of the few who'd deem it sexual and report it, and more those who'd feel it sexual and act on it.
When you think about it, a massively high number of people won't have seen a naked body in the flesh other than their own until they have sex.

Thats the fine line and some are not aware of it. This, I believe, is where the concern arises and the association with sex develops. |

I was on the entrance to that one year, shaking a bucket to collect for charity. It was a bit crazy how much was happening in the street and in public in full sun. We were advising people with kids to go down the next streets with no action. I remember this one guy with a kid of about 5/6 said he wanted his kid to see that the world is different and sex, weird sex, was normal. It was a public street, we couldn't say anything, had to let him through. |
