This is not new and has been an intermittent issue since 2020. A few factors are a play but the biggest one was a significant fire in a US chemical plant in late 2020. The other main issue is China’s supply chain caused by Covid. |

The shortage of Chlorine is due to two manufacturing plants in the U.S. having fires, one in 2020 and the second in January of this year. This had a huge impact on global supplies and also lead big price increase. The problems were further compounded by Covid related transport issues.
