Random:
If you’re using a pseudonym like me on here and it’s a name. Would you expect people to call you by your real name when they actually meet you in the flesh? Or is the fab name ok?
Would you try and call someone by their real name or instinctively stick with their fab name?
**Sorry my name is not really Steve or Stephen or Esteban. |

If I meet people I always tell them my real name (which isn’t Dan). Despite this some continue to call me Dan as it’s what they’ve always known me as! I don’t mind either way tbf. |

I’d prefer it if people use Annie / Annabel which isn’t my ‘real’ name but I prefer it because of my gender / being trans etc…tho if I trusted the person I might let them know my ‘real’ name or let them call me by another name that I like |

Meeting someone face to face I would expect real names to be used.
Trust, honesty and respect.
If it starts with lies can only go downhill from there.
A club or party may be different tho. |

I don't tend to address someone by name in speech nor text (mainly as I'm awful at remembering them anyway)
But it is really hard to remember when you've known someone as a normal username like John or Brian.
Not so easy to accidentally call someone PussyFiller696969

"I might get mixed up if fake name is a real name (like Steve). But where it's not a name, like Swing, I'd tend to expect reverting to names. "
I imagine people do for a while with names like Steve. They’re the ones I meant. For example I’d find calling you Swing irl kinda weird. But I don’t imagine someone would find it weird calling me Steve. Especially if they’ve known me as Steve for longer than they have as my real name |

I don’t mind either way as I know it’s all in good fun "
Yeah absolutely. Do you ever find yourself turning to respond when you hear Russ in public?
Sometimes I do with Steve. And have done for the years I’ve used it as a pseudonym |

We tell people our real names when we are going to meet. One exception to that was the late Bobby Tupper, we lived too far away to meet but he knew our names.
We prefer to call people by their real names if they're ok with it |

I’ve never heard anyone say it out and about but if I did, I think I would be tempted to look round to see who was calling but then ignore it and carry on doing what I was doing |

That’s what I mean too. Only people who I’ve had a lot to do with on here know it and it’s very few. I sometimes use a fab name until I really get to know them |

Pretty much everyone I know from here calls me Posh... except Bob, and a couple of other people when they're telling me off (that would be Saff and Red).
I think everyone I've met knows my real name though... |

We used to be friends with a couple from here , chatted for ages over several months. We met several times at clubs and Bdsm events for well over a year. Then we started going on holiday to Cap D Agde with them , several times over a few years.
The final year we went to Cap with them, they introduced us to some of their friends . One evening we kept getting funny looks from people they obviously knew. Then one awkward moment over dinner one night another couple said “who is K…… you keep talking about ? “ We all felt embarrassed and she said- “ ah , there’s something we’ve been meaning to tell you” . “K….. isn’t my real name ! It’s ………”. ( Not going to say her real name as they are still on here).
No wonder everyone we met with them kept giving us funny looks.
After 3 plus years of meeting them , going on holiday with them , them coming to us and meeting up at clubs, we felt cheated and let down. Their other friends must of thought we were stupid.
We realise people don’t want to give out their real identities early on , but for us we felt like second class friends/ or nobodies that they had just picked up !
We felt differently about them straight away.
We were on holiday with them in the same apartment. All was well but it was never the same again and we drifted apart very soon .
We haven’t spoken or messaged them in over 5 years now.
Everyone has different circumstances we know, but we think after a few meets you’d want to be truthful and honest.

If I'm meeting I prefer real names. Met someone and they said their real name for example was John. M wanted to catch his attention during a MFM called his name and he was totally oblivious and ignored him. Not for a long time but enough to make me uncomfortable. |

Half my friends call me Tibs. It's quite funny if I have a BBQ say where I have Internet and 'other' friends present. People call me Tibs and you can see people wondering why is that person calling Dean Tibs, and even stranger, why is he answering them |

I’ve been ‘Jack’ on Kik, Reddit, fab etc for quite a few years, and when I’ve met people in real life, even though they normally get told my real name, most still call me Jack, which is fine, it’s almost like an alter ego and I’m very comfortable being called that. |

I once spent four or five nights a week with a guy for over 6 months.
His user name was Bob, and even now, quite a few years on, that's what I call him.
It wasn't his name, but we'd chatted using that name for so long that in my head that's how I think of him. To remember his real name I have to go into my Facebook messages to see it!
Thankfully he didn't seem to object. |

People using different first names is one of the weirdest things on Fab imo. It's called signing up with your brain (ie your imagination) in your cock I think.
Also I HATE the name Simon! Why are there so many freaking "xxx Simons" on this site?
Until people know you at least to some degree, they will always associate a name with someone else who shares it! Ok when they know something or other they will quickly transition over to the concept of 'you', but why introduce yourself this way??

Because _adyjayne has been my BDSM scene name for more years than I care to count I'm pretty much used to people calling me Jayne.
There are plenty on the bdsm scene who only know me as Jayne so it's as natural to me as my other name.
My best friend is the same, in fact myself, her husband etc call her by her scene name all the time - even her family know that she has an official name and the name those close to her use... And my parents come to think of it. My parents call her by her scene name but have her official name on the facestalk app |

Us not using our birth names has nothing to do with what we signed-up with. It's far more to do with privacy and occupation.
There are whole industries out there where people would not even use their 'real' names on e.g. facebook. |

We use names specifically for fab, for several reasons.
One being our comfort zone regarding discretion.
Another, it kinda helps us with the role play side of things. Mrs loves reading messages, and hearing on the phone how I refer to her as a different name, almost a different person, brings out the naughty in her.
We don't have a particular rule but find, if we meet the once, we tend to not share our real names, if though we arrange to meet again and feel a friendship could begin, we'll give our real names.
We do have stand out names and the wrong person knowing could cause us some real issues.
