Mysterious radio signals

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

It's in the news that scientists have detected mysterious radio signals from a galaxy 3 billion light years ago.

If they are aliens, what should be our first message to them? I suggest sending a dick picture in poor lighting with a message "Want to fuck tonight?"

It will be ironical because we obviously can't fuck tonight as they will receive it only after three billion years.

We cannot assume that they will use the same units of measurement as us, and so I’d be worried they might say say and use their advanced technology to get here real quick and probe my anus. Be careful what you joke about…

Going by the time frames of humans likely to destroy ourselves, is there much point? We'll long have ceased to exist, by the time signals get there.

If they can decode the signals, we should just use them for learning about them.

Any message we send back would take 3 billion years to reach them and require a transmitter more powerful than anything we could possibly build currently.

Could Uri Geller send them a message via telepathy ?

What if they’re saying “you guys are fucked, we’re going to blow you all to smithereens?”

Probably but the message would probably be about bendy cutlery and him telling them he was friends with Michael Jackson.

The joke will be on them. By the time they can do anything, the sun would have burnt us already.

That's true. It's still nice if there is another species that knows that humans existed here.

Nope, I'm the last person you'd want to invite to a party.

I'll drink too much whiskey and pass out in a plant pot somewhere.

Mysterious radio signals are always being discovered by radio telescopes. Pretty much all of them have eventually been explained by natural phenomena.

That said if it's 3 billion light-years away, that signal was sent when life was only just getting started on Earth. If it came from an advanced alien civilization then the chances of it being around are very slim. For context, the oldest human civilization is only around 10,000 years old.

If they are still around to receive messages I'd ask them if they have tentacles and what their thoughts are on tentacle porn. Would they be up for it!

We should definitely send them some samples of tentacle porn too. I hope they don't get offended.
