I’m not just talking about the pleasure or the basic urge to procreate, which is pretty much the last thing people are thinking about on here.

Interesting question OP. And when I think about it, I realise that I get different things from different types of sex.
Passionate, sensual sex with the person I love can be another way of sharing our feelings with each other, strengthening our bond in a physical rather than verbal way.
Primal, animalistic sex, often venturing into the realms of BDSM, can be a release from everyday life, probably the only time when I stop being a control freak and switch off, clearing my mind of everything apart from the moment and the physical sensations.
And sometimes sex is purely hedonistic, simply because I really enjoy the physical and emotional pleasure that it gives me.
And often it's a mix of some or all of the above. Or random different things. I just like sex  |
