Do you do fasted cardio?

Jump to: Newest in thread

From the land of haribos.

I do that almost everyday and I prefer to go out for a walk first thing in the morning, infact I have just been out and walked for an hour, this is not the only cardio that I will do today. I will be on my exersize bike later, that I have at home, for another hour. I like cardio

I’ve not done fasted because I haven’t seen any evidence to suggest it’s better for fat loss, so I prefer to at least have some protein in my stomach before going

However, if I tried it and it made my cardio feel much better I’d definitely do it.

Although, I’ll admit, I struggle to do cardio so early that I haven’t eaten by the time I do it.

Good on you for being so motivated. Jealous

I almost always do my cardio in a fasted state in the morning, anything from a 5 mile walk to a 20 mile run. Provided the intensity is not too high, then never had any issues, and it seems to promote weight loss faster than any other regime I've followed

.

Regularly. I'm not doing it for fat loss, but for conditioning and because time pressures. If I was to eat before exercise, I'd lose early morning exercise time so I'd rather do my cardio and eat while doing first morning work tasks at my desk.

I used to do hiit on my fast days, and I was leaner and more ripped than ever before.

I went back to fasting yesterday, so I’ll add hiit in when I’ve got into a rhythm with the IF

I only eat one meal a day (breakfast) so 90% of my cardio is fasted

Yes sometimes. But not because of fat loss, mainly because I'm disorganised.

Interested to know more about one meal a day as I'm constantly eating. Same meal or do you switch things up?

What kind of fasting? Like a full day? Or the 16:8 kind of fasting?

In the west.

I couldn't do cardio if I was fasted, even at the end of the day, just a few hours after lunch I find it hard going.

No, I see no point or benefit to it.

I get a more productive cardio workout done if I’m properly fed beforehand.

Leeds + Newcastle

I walk the dogs before I eat breakfast so I definitely think that counts.

Wrangling spaniel pups from the house to the car to the woods is 110% exercise

I'm a plasterer so a 10 hour shift is plenty of exercise

I just can't do it, I need to eat or I don't feel well

Little and often for me, plenty of water no carbs

I fast about 16 hours daily. I think fasted cardio is good.

I feel like the most effective workouts that I do are fasted ones. I feel more in tune with my body and seem to have more energy at those times.

It’s my preferred way of training

Do you consider low carbs?

I find carbs makes me sluggish.

No. To both the cardio, and the fasting

But it's not something I've researched heavily into. I'm naturally a bit lean anyway so afraid how much effect fasted cardio or too much cardio has on muscle building which is ultimately the goal.

Seems like steady state low intensity cardio would be appropriate.

That's what I've been thinking. I do a 10 min cardio warm up before my workout and go for about a 40min walk on my lunch breaks so that's been ok up to now

Ty and yes. I like to workout, my last meal from the day before is around 10pm, so about a 10hr fast or so

I guess that we’re aiming for different goals.

I’m intent on cardiovascular fitness, muscle gain and tone are a by product of that and help in my fitness, whereas you’re looking for gain and fitness is a by product

Ty and yes. I am really motivated. I dont really do it for the science. I find it easier just to get up and go for a walk, then when coming home, eat the breakfast too. I usually burn around 500 to 700 calories daily, including the weights that I do

I aim for 16 hours, but always an hour or 2 over my non fasting hours, and doing with doing night shift, it goes out the window then

I have now done 1hr as well on the bike plus the 1hr of walking this morning which will add to my daily deficit of 600 calories which being consistent will get to your goal, consistency is the key

I get light headed if I workout on an empty stomach. I’d rather fuel myself and go hard.
