Has anyone ever done it?

I'm thinking of doing it for a week this summer. Got any recommendations?

Yes I’ve done it a lot

Depends what type of travel you prefer, short or long haul, beach or snow etc plus your budget.

I’ve recently done Rhodes, Ibiza, Arizona and Las Vegas.

Home or abroad ?

I’ve been to Thailand and Vietnam on my own, possibly go to Cambodia this year. I like Asia as it’s easier to be alone and not bothered by other people or the opposite, very easy to chat to others in bars and restaurants. Not as cheap as it once was but still good value.

In the UK, I’d recommend Northern Ireland, Belfast is one of my favourite cities and the ferry or flight still makes you feel you’re off to somewhere different.

NW London

Travelled several countries solo, good experience getting out of a comfort zone.

My recommendation would be to stay at hostels and to look up backpackers bars etc as they are good places to meet and chat with people

Near Wells

Often been traveling on my own, I think it's the best way. I've never had a problem meeting and chatting with people.

Portsmouth

I did years ago, a few months of my year in New Zealand. Would highly recommend it, made lots of friends along the way, still in touch with them 20 years later.

Yaxley, Peterborough

I always go on holiday on my own. Prefer it that way no one else to please and usually friendly people about

Dubai & Nottingham

Hard to give recommendations without knowing what you like. I mean it’s so easy and hassle free, take a book you’ll have time to read. You can also spend without worry - everything costs at least half price

Some cities are much friendlier than others, hostels are great if you want to meet lots of other solo travellers but chose them carefully. Some great backpacker ones and some dismal / dangerous city centre ones
