stupid internet!!!!

My laptop won't connect to the router even though my phone is fine....and I can't get to the router next door to do the usual turn it off turn it on again trick 
Would it be too much if I went to the fuse box and turned that off and on???  |

Won't help if the router has stopped handing out DHCP leases, or something similar.
Sometimes the router needs to be rebooted.
Can you use your 'phone to log into the router interface and restart it that way? |

In a browser try the following 192.168.0.1 ; 192.168.1.1 ; 192.168.100.1 ; 192.168.1.100.

Alternatively find out what IP address your 'phone is using, and the gateway address. Pick an IP in the same range and assign that spatially to the laptop with the same gateway IP.
I'd do it for you if I was nearer but not sure I can talk you through it. |

In a browser try the following 192.168.0.1 ; 192.168.1.1 ; 192.168.100.1 ; 192.168.1.100. One of those 4 might get you in.

They might have seen that you are using their internet free and blocked your laptop from connecting.
Unless of course they know you are using their internet and are happy with it.
This is the reason mine is locked, and only items I want to connect to the router can.

I remember you saying a while ago you live next door to your dad. And saying you usually go in and reboot it when there's a problem suggests it's somewhere you normally have access to. |
