"Unionists are going ballistic as usual when the flag of Ireland was inadvertently used instead of a NI flag (there is no official flag). A big issue to stir up once again"
Or British people get irritated by a foreign flag flying over a government building..? |

"The Irish flag will mean nothing one day, you are part of the big EU federal experiment
And the union flag will mean nothing one day once the break up of the UK begins"
I do not mind if we break up, as long as we are not ruled from Brussels |

It’s meant more for so many than the tricolour ever did. |

I want to clarify I have a great warmth for the Irish people and pains me the history between the nations. I hope Ireland one day wakes up to the EU experiment |

We were never ruled by Brussels and never will be. Brussels was just the admin address if the team we were part of."
Oh dear… |

"It's disrespectful to fly the wrong flag. Don't blame 'em for being miffed."
It was definitely deliberate by the BBC, stirred up a lot of reaction. I suspect rabid europhiles in the BBC are to blame |

"Ulster has its own flag. "
How many counties in Ulster? I always thought it was 9 counties in Ulster and only 6 counties in Northern Ireland. So for 3 counties of Ulster the Tricolour is the national flag. |

Thought green with big harp in the centre , not the tri colour or Union Jack with the badge in the centre , people forget Ireland was forcefully taken years ago , British Empire no longer excist so maybe should be handed back like other places , Even Scotland wanting to break away now |

Experiment? I had no idea that it was an experiment, what are the official aims? And what is the official website? I'd like to know more. |

"In a week where the Orange Order sang songs about the death of a Catholic woman whilst on her honeymoon, the unionists should perhaps take stock. "
That was disgusting, unreal what humans can do eachother |

The flag of ulster (9 counties), is a Red Cross on a yellow background, with a red hand in a white shield in the middle. This dates back to the 13th century.
The flag of Northern Ireland (6 counties), is similar , but white background instead of yellow.

Do you blame them? Especially after how this government has treated them with so much contempt. |

Can you give examples? Genuinely interested. |

What I find most revealing is that this wasn’t some random obnoxious comment being shouted … it was a song that was being sung, and then all knew the words … and also they felt that the Orange Hall was a safe place in which to sing it. Shows how deep-rooted the hatred is.
At the very least, the dundonald orange ball should be closed down. They have made no official comment about what happened, and have closed down their Facebook page rather than condemn the behaviour .
Extremity sad, but very revealing |

The most common source of conspiracy theories is to mistake incompetence and error for design |

Then such a mistake surely means the BBC is not worth the money being squeezed out of people, time to scrap the license…. |

Not really. Someone made an error. If we shut down every organisation that made an error, we’d have nothing left. |

We should treat them like all the conspiracy theorists who make errors, surely. Deny mistakes and send more money, because the man is out to get them |

The historic province of Ulster comprising of nine counties, indeed has its own flag"
… and has had that flag since the 13th century, long before Northern Ireland came into existence |

The BBC gets roughly three times the viewing figures of Netflix in the UK. The only other funding model is advertisements. No thanks. |

No need to scrap the license, you can just opt out of live tv viewing and you don’t have to pay it. Job done. |

How far back do you want to trace the rightful "owners" or is it only because its a part of Britain that rubs you wrong way? We're gonna have a hard time if we have to start parcelleing out land around the world that was taking via conquest |

"It was definitely deliberate by the BBC, ......."
I doubt that very much.
A more realistic scenario is that someone from England was tasked with producing the montage and like many, many English people, they had very little knowledge of what goes on in Northern Ireland and no real understanding of any of the customs or indeed tensions that are a part of life there.
Let's face it, senior politicians didn't take the political situation into account there when they were arranging Brexit, and even to date can't come up with a workable solution that's agreed by the necessary people. If that sort of person can make such hugs gaffes, then a technician at the BBC is just as likely to do so.
I doubt the person even knew what flag was supposed to be shown and did a hasty google search that produced the wrong answer.
If they were rabid europhiles and wanted to slip the wrong flag in, then surely they would put the EU flag in? |
