Thought I’d start a topic and get some convo going, happy to natter in all honesty.
So what else floats our boats?
Cars, hobbies, collections?
I collect, restore and sell old toys, mainly old dinky and corgi etc, have made a few quid off it over the years.
Also just bought a car, 91 merc E class in polizei livery, gets a few looks and great fun, complete with siren and blue lights. |

I'm a massive car enthusiast.
I love working on them and I'm passionate about cleaning the things. I did run my own detailing company for a while and I wasn't unusual for me to spend 5 days+ polishing and coating cars for people.
I've also been a musician since I was 6 and build my own guitars and effects pedals. |

I’ve always wanted to play the guitar, got long fingers but can’t use them for too long as pain sets in.
Talking of cleaning cars, I’ve got the sunroof seal of the merc in the washing machine at the min, trying to soften it up as a new one is £200. |

Silicone grease for rubber. However, if it's dried out too much the only solution is a new one. Treating your rubber and plastics with something like CarPro Perl on a regular basis keeps them in good order for much longer. |

It’s not too bad to be honest, scrubbed it before and still soft, gonna soak it in silicone and see what happens, nothing to lose.
Found 2 being broken for parts locally so fingers crossed.
Cars been sat out side for 3+ years so needs tlc. |

Never liked horses, scary things. Remind me of the alien from the James Cameron films.
If I say the G word I’ll burn!
Can’t beat a bit of modelling, I got back into Tamiya kits during lockdown. |

The paint will be heavily contaminated in that case and a very deep clean and decon will be needed.
If you can, get the wheels off and the car on axle stands.
Pre-wash with an alkaline snow foam mixed with a little APC.
Two bucket wash.
Tar & glue remover, fallout remover then clay bar.
Wash the car again.
Clean exterior plastics and wheel arches with an APC solution.
Do you have access to or know how to machine compound and polish? |

Won’t be doing that anytime soon, it’s a project to be fair, the boot lid and bonnet are getting repainted in German police green(oddly enough a rover group colour), the white corners will be getting blown in after arches tidied and roof may get wrapped. Doors are already wrapped so they are ok.
It’s not bad in all honesty, I work on cars everyday and I know lots of people who can do bits for me but will most likely tackle it myself. |

Being interested in growing your own food more, developing home energy production systems and living a non material lifestyle, being more interested in fixing things than replacing them, wanting to live cheaply for its own sake as well as from necessity. |

Nice, never been to a live gig myself.
Get that on your list, I just can’t back from seeing Liam Gallagher at Knebworth was amazing "
May do one day, not keen on loud noises and crowds, although frequented rock world and jilly’s in Manchester during my younger days, loved it. |

Ah got you, since energy prices went up I setup a solar charge system, use it for phones and tablets etc, rarely use mains power except to shower and wash clothes, usually once to twice a fortnight I throw washing machine on( I live alone so not a big deal).
Have solar lights in the bedroom and solar power banks if need be and I can boost these in the van while working.
My phone and tablet were purchased damaged and repaired by myself and if the kids break there stuff I patch them up. |

No, always wanted to learn but pain in hands and fingers after prolonged use kind of gets in the way. |

That’s a shame. It’s great fun. I’m terrible but love learning new songs and find it a good way to relax other than the gym |

Cars, 2 that I track when I can, take them down the drag strip, done the odd high speed airfield run when they pop up.
Gym and powerlifting, compete at an international level.
Astronomy, spend ages looking through the telescope.
Collecting world war 1 and 2 memorabilia.
Watch collecting, not just for the sake of collecting as they all get worn. |

Adventures in my motorhome or going abroad to less touristy places (currently sat by the hotel pool in Lesbos)

I like less busy places to relax, wouldn’t mind a motor home one day but I go to the pillocks who do nothing for the image. |

What cars do you run?
My 10 year old is obsessed with WW2 at the min, getting a nice collection, mainly some uniforms, badges and models made of bullet casings.
I make WW2 era tamiya models, nothing accurate, just a bit of fun to kill time.
Can’t beat a good time piece. |

I've got a 50th anniversary Telecaster (amongst others) and I'm currently building a reclaimed wood Tele with P90's and a Strat neck. Nothing on Earth sounds quite like a Tele, get it bought. |

The variety of interests in this thread is amazing!
I'm into trail/fell running, working up to my first ultra next year. Love live music and dancing, preferably discovering new bands in small venues. I read a lot. Learned to swim last year, gymnastics this year. I make stuff too but that's mainly work.. |
