Does society consider you less of a man if you don't have kids? Sometimes I think people look at pity at you if you don't and other guys seem to see it as a failing? Am I wrong?

It may be assumed as a lack of fertility or verility.

Not a clue. They can take a hike if they think that.

The opposite can also be true. People see a softer side to you when they see you with kids and make assumptions from that.

I actually think it's women who are looked down upon if they enter their mid 30s and they have no children...

A healthy man can easily have children into his 50s.

Also society is less likely to care about a man not having children, as long has he is successful or has a purpose in his community...

It's mostly your family or close friends that keep trying to push you into having kids, because they think that is what brings happiness to your life...

Is true.

People who judge me can take a hike too

I find family far more judgemental than wider society, mostly why I tell them all to fuck off and keep their nose out

I've spawned no crotch fruit.

But I'm a Dad.

If your definition of a real man is someone who has fathered a child then maybe some should man the fuck up and actually show an interest in their offspring instead of avoiding them since birth.

Who cares what society think its non of their business.

I've no kids and had the snip about 3yrs ago. I'm 48 I don't want a kid now I'd be 70 when they might leave home if they could afford it.

God, why would people think such a thing! I've never encountered that. No-one is less of anything if they don't have kids.

I’ve not heard of any negative comments towards those without kids. I’m sure no one sits in judgement about such things, everyone is too busy with their own lives OP

I don’t think you’re wrong although I’m my experience with others this isn’t the case. In my experiences, men have the freedom to choose and be open about whether they want kids and not feel as though it is attached to how much of man they are.

I don't have children out of choice and stick firmly by not wanting any, I've never noticed it having any affect on my dating or sex life however

Wirral.

I wouldn't think that at all.

But then, I was constantly judged for not having kids, even though I announced from a very young age that I never wanted them.

In fact, as someone above said, I'd class you lucky. Most of my friends with kids do nothing but moan about them.....

I remember my late uncle having rumours about him being gay because he was 40 odd and not married or a father.

Forget what society thinks OP

"I’d have thought most people would consider you extremely fortunate "

This is actually the feedback I get from breeding couples in my social circle

Personally, I would have liked to have had children so I usually tell them the grass is always greener.

So many people obsessing about what other think of them.

Stone Age mentality.

Fuck what anyone else thinks. I don't have kids and have never wanted them.

Most parents I know seem to look at my lifestyle with envy. Not that I'd ever suggest they were wrong to have kids.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Nobody has ever said it and I personally don't give a damn what people think but I just wanted to find out if there was a perception out there.
