Bank holidays, long weekends and the like can be really pressing for people for many reasons.

Recently losing loved ones, recently ending relationships, battling with your sexuality, gender dysphoria, not having a solid social circle or general loneliness all combined with the cost of living crisis and all the other challenges we face make life really hard sometimes

If anyone is struggling this bank holiday weekend, or anytime in general, my inbox is free of filters and a judgement free, safe haven for all. I’m sure there are many others who would also extend a similar invite because you’re a great bunch

for anyone that needs it xx

This is so lovely OP

Found out today a very good colleague very sadly couldnt cope anymore. He seemed the happiest person. No one suspected a thing. It’s a stark and harsh reminder to check in on everyone, even people that seem perfectly happy. You just don’t know what’s going on in peoples minds.

It shouldn’t have to take bad news to make us reach out to people, but sadly it does.

I hope you’re ok too OP xx

Just got out the car so picking up on the replies. I’m going really well, and have the emotional capacity to be supportive to anyone that needs it. Which is a blessed position to be in

While I was in hospital there were others in there who openly claimed they could not cope and wanted out

There was a feeling of sympathy for them but also an understanding of what they were saying, which was worrying as I have not been through half as much as they were dealing with

Also made me wonder about if was their age and in there would i face it with dignity or complain and would I have people who care and come visit

I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you’re doing ok with the news and getting the support you need.

I think i was reminded today about a ex colleague who came to work inebriated after a bank holiday weekend, and continued to drink slyly through the working day until lunchtime when an ambulance was called

Not jumping on the band wagon at all. The more Fab Mental Health and Support First Aiders we have, the better for us all

I hope you have real and comprehensive training in mental health mentoring and counselling before putting this out there or possibly making things far worse for some people.

I'm sure it was both meant by the OP and taken by whoever read as a friendly ear; a casual chat or a hint of positivity from a stranger. Which is a pretty good thing.

At least I hope so. And if so, well done that dude.

I’m not offering a counselling or mentoring service but I am familiar with how to sign post accordingly
