"Strawberry jam and fresh whipped cream rolled up like a big cigar
How do you roll a crumpet?"
In Scotland or at least Ayrshire we have big flat crumpets as well as little thick ones. I'm assuming thats not the case everywhere |

"Toasted crispy and then, controversially, left to cool. Butter and lemon marmalade or peanut butter."
I see the logic. Can be really messy and difficult to eat when the butter seeps through the holes |

"Butter and a rasher of bacon "
I sometimes have a giant crumpet as part of a full English. Toasted crispy, butter, place the egg on top and let the yoke spread across the top. Finish with bacon and mushrooms. |

I've bought and thrown out crumpets untouched the last few weeks.
Now I can't for the life of me remember if I bought more this week, but now I want crumpets, if I go to the kitchen and find I didn't buy them I'll be disappointed.
Doused in butter. |
