Day 3 of being on a super strict diet because, while exercise is going great, I can feel myself slipping back into pre-health kick habits with food.
It's going great and I've not got any cravings so far but I DID genuinely have a dream last night that I'd found a hidden room full of chocolate and biscuits in my house, sooo...
Pray 4 me |

Ah go you. It's genuinely hard to start but you have. Also the dreams can be kinda cruel sometimes.
I need some of that motivation you have there. |

"I love food dreams! All the enjoyment, none of the calories!
Good luck! I’ve been trying to make an effort here too x"
Don't you wake up craving that though? |

"What diet is it?
I am long of the opinion that diets only work if you make them a lifestyle.
C"
No carbs (not saying the bloody K word on here ). I'm not gonna get into if it works or not, I've used it in the past to kick-start fat loss and also set myself back on track and refocus my willpower, which is what I need right now. Also it's always satisfying seeing all the water weight come off at the start |

Good for you, those intrusive dreams can be tough
My only advice is that often, super strict lifestyle changes don’t last long. Small changes are sustainable and will create long term changes. Big strict changes are usually short lived and help feed a negative thought patted of “I can’t do this”
It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and at the end, it’s only with yourself |

I don’t diet, I find restricting doesn’t work for me.
So, I do 5:2 and it works well for me, especially with my HRT
7lb loss in 2 weeks and I’ll not weigh myself now, I’ll just continue until my clothes are too loose |

Welcome to the no carb lifestyle! There are a few of us on the forum ad well!
I made carnivore a lifestyle choice personally but if you need help or anything, I am more than happy to help. I'm in a couple of communities for it.

5:2 worked really well for me too.
I’m just building myself up to starting again. |

Nah I was actually doing super well on this diet in lockdown (lost 5 stone) but when things opened up again I found it too hard to maintain while socialising. As I'm veggie I can't just have a cut of meat with vegetables, and end up paying through the nose for just plain salads.
Now I've got the big rush of socialising out of my system it should be easier I do genuinely enjoy this diet as I can still eat like, cheese and shit |

Won't be easy with veggies at all given the nutrient and anti-nutrient levels you have to contend with on top of inflammation.

Good luck with your diet it’s finding something that works for you.
I just try and eat natural whole foods and minimal carbs. Avoiding processed foods and refined sugars. It’s pretty much a Paleo diet I follow |

That’s good news then. I definitely struggle with socialising part too. I just tell myself slim line tonic and gin is good for me. Plus a slice lemon is 1 of my 5 a day I think. And I’m gonna have about 8 of them so my body is literally a temple |

How strict are you being? Studies seem to indicate the more restrictive you are the more likely you are to slip.

It's fine I've found a good enough selection of very low carb meat replacements, and I eat a ton of eggs just in restaurants there's never any options |

I've actually fared better on the stricter diets tbh. When I've done moderation or 80/20 diets I get too triggered by that small amount I'm allowed to have, and it leads to more persistent cravings. Cutting everything out, personally, is hard for the first few days but then it's plain sailing. I must be a medical anomaly.
For me it's been when I've had cheat days on special occasions, birthdays etc. It takes me ages to get back into it because junk makes me crave more junk and then I binge and spiral |

Well I don’t believe you have to follow everything to the book. I actually eat cheese and Greek yoghurt on it, I don’t see the harm at all in moderation |

Ah so more of just a whole foods diet?
See I need the threat of coming out of ketosis to stop me from eating things I shouldn't alas it's too easy for me to cheat on other types of diets and just tell MFP it didn't happen |

Yeah it practically is, but for me what I like about it is and why it’s easy to follow, is that I don’t need to worry about coming out of anything like ketosis for example. It’s not going to harm anything if I eat a few cubes of cheese on paleo or a couple of spoonfuls of Greek yogurt. I can be flexible with it…
That’s the biggest part of Keto is staying in Ketosis for your body to use fats as energy essentially. You’ve got to be strict with it |

What is 5:2?"
I eat healthy, no snacks etc for 5 days , then on 2 I have the 1,800 calories
It works for me |

Not surprised about the getting over junk. Most of it has been designed to hit all your neural receptors like crack.
I rewired my brain using lots of spices. Last time I had a takeaway I had 6 mouthfuls. All u could taste was grease and salt.
Peer pressure with food is definitely a huge trigger for many . As soon as people start eating healthily others comment. Not always in a positive and helpful way. |

I’ve stopped having pop and those cappuccino sachet drinks since having Covid and I’ve lost a stone. I can’t say I miss them either.
I still have shedloads more to lose though but I can’t do diets, I have to think of it as healthy eating.

Same. I found walking shed it for me (I appreciate some can’t walk a long way) but couldn’t believe the difference walking made. |

What works for me is not using the word diet as that alone is a negative word for me anyway .I changed my lifestyle 3 years ago and couldn’t be happier .
It’s hard at first well it was for me to break the habit of a lifetime but it gets easier and you learn little tricks along the way to help with any cravings you have. |

Not on a diet as such but I track my intakes and expenditures (calories used) quite religiously depending on the stage of training I'm at. I was quite surprised how easily it became part of my life tbh. I use garmin, my watch keeps track of all expenditures, I add in all intakes. I didn't find it difficult to adopt, now it's really just part of my life, like shaving and brushing my teeth. |

This.
Often the biggest hurdle is someone's negative relationship with food. Changing perspective to "this is how I live now" rather than a "diet" with an end goal can be more positive. |
