I bought one! It's excellent so far. Several people recommended them when I did a thread about gadgets.
Any tips on good recipes etc? As it didn't come with a recipe book and the app is a bit shite. |

"What are the chips like?
Really good! Tbh that's all the kids are bothered about. "
Hmm now I want one. Are they better than oven chips?
I like them best out the deep fat fryer but don't like the oil smell after and it's a faff to get in and out. |

Same as oven chips for me. I've never owned a deep fat frier. The air fryer also means I'm not burning things as it's all timed. |

"Which one did you get? My wife wants one
Instant Vortex 4 in 1. I got a large one as I have four kids.
Me too, so I am glad it does large families. Thanks for the recommendation "
No worries! I did quite a bit of research and I liked it. It's not too HUGE either. |

There's quite a few recipes on Google and tiktok"
Didn't think of TikTok! I get loads of ordinary recipes from there.
When I've Googled I just got overwhelmed. Thought I'd ask for what people actually cook. |

I was always a bit iffy about lots of kitchen gadgets, and also don't have the biggest of kitchens. Got a Ninja Dual drawer as a gift before Christmas just gone think it's fantastic. Done lots of chicken, steak, roast potatoes, wedges. Haven't done home made chips yet.
It's a lot more efficient than the oven I find, and easy to clean.
Doing a gammon joint in it tomorrow and roast veg

Crush up some flamin wotsits add some garlic powder, salt, pepper and a bit of cayenne pepper.
Then get a chicken breast, dip it in some egg and coat it in crushed wotsits mix. Stick it in the air fryer for about 20-25 min. |

Try to remember it’s just a little oven too. So anything that doesn’t take long in the oven is better to do in there because it preheats faster
For example, I sear meat in a pan and finish in the air fryer |

Spicy! They sound great but might try a milder version for my sensitive kids. |

I am trying to look at it as a small oven, I bought it partly because my kids keep cooking one portion of something in the oven. Want to keep the bills down. |

Yeah, it's pretty bulky, has two drawers which can be put on different settings for different times and sync both so all done at same time. (Again, not a sales pitch) for timings, it's been a bit of trial and error, but then found a chart to convert even to air fry times which is pretty handy. |

I have a tower shelved one with rotisserie, I haven’t had my oven on in over a year.
I cook everything in it from lasagne, roasts, kebabs, baked fresh fish with Mediterranean vegetables. If you can cook it in the oven you can cook it in an air fryer, even Yorkshire’s & cakes. |

I usually do 20 degrees lower for 20% less time than you would do in a normal oven. So 180 for most things. |

I’ve had 2 different ones and loved them - however both of them died between 18 and 24 months - don’t know if the fat gets into the filter or they just have a short life.
Best things to cook - oven chips, sausages, chicken pieces. Slices of pizza and sausages bacon. Also fried fish and toad in the hole and Yorkshire puddings.
If you have a small ovenproof dish you can add things with sauce like spare ribs. |

I am not really into gadgets like that as I enjoy cooking a like to take my time, taste, season etc. I am tempted though and as always can't understand the difference in prices. For example the ninza one seems to cost twice what tge others mentioned here. Is the difference worthy. |

I think I am the only person who doesn’t like mine, I get better results in the oven - but cooking has always been a passion of mine.
Reminds me of the George Forman fad.. basically an electrified frying/griddle pan that you can’t put in the dish washer.
My best cooking gadget is my oven, but I did splash out a bit due to my love of cooking.
My friend loves hers, but she also doesn’t like cooking! She showed me egg on toast in it, was very under whelming. |

I've got this as well, I love it. You need to find cookware that fits though. I'm sure it's cut my electric bill down as well coz it's much smaller than an oven. |

There was a thread about these on another site that degraded into an argument after someone said “if you have a convection oven on your microwave don’t bother buying an air fryer as they are exactly the same things”.
After bit and back and forth someone said to the guy who said the above “what makes you so sure you’re right?”
His reply;
“I design microwaves, air fryers and other cooking implements for a living.” |

I guess it depends what you use it for, I’d never use it instead of an oven or grill but if I want a effect similar to deep or shallow fat frying but much healthier it’s not bad. For fried plantain I use a teaspoon of oil in the air fryer and it’s ok/ passable and much healthier |

We were recommended to get one by the local fire brigade who did a fire safety inspection, apparently a lot of the home fires they attend nowadays are chip pan fires and they recommend air fryers as being much safer. |

I'm an aviation engineer and have some experience within the field of thermodynamics (mainly applied to gas turbines and nuclear engines but heat is heat right).
In principle he has a point but in practice and by design an air fryer circulates hot air in a significantly more efficient and focussed way, hence why it doesn't require pre heating and cooks considerably quicker than a convection combi oven and this is despite the fact it also zaps the food with microwaves.
OMG I am boring myself now I'm just as much fun at parties BTW |

Op, how many watts is your air fryer or if it don't tell you what is the volts & amps?
There are tower air fryer books on amazon for £8.49. Have you thought of trying there?
I have thought about looking into it but worry about the cost & efficiency of it. Does it have an "A" efficiency rating? If not what is it? |

Got a ninja multi cooker. It does everything. So much easier and quicker than the conventional oven.
Roasts are taste sensation. Pressure cook then air fry to finish. |

"I need to get a new one, mine went to air fryer heaven
They are very inexpensive now so really no reason to not have one just to add to the gadget collection
Oh I'll soon replace it, I'm missing it, I'm just still scr#ping the remnants of it off my cooker hob....long story

"Op, how many watts is your air fryer or if it don't tell you what is the volts & amps?
There are tower air fryer books on amazon for £8.49. Have you thought of trying there?
I have thought about looking into it but worry about the cost & efficiency of it. Does it have an "A" efficiency rating? If not what is it? "
It's 1700kw. I have a family one so it has a large capacity. I don't know the energy rating as I didn't think small devices have them? |

I have one of these, was 180 quid but at the time I was waiting for a replacement cooker so stumped up the cash, hardly used my new oven since though as the ninja does everything perfect every time, try Cajun spice on the chips, oh god died gone to heaven |

"OK, thanks! I'll have a look when I have a spare moment & not on here. LOL.
Need to do some number crunching .... "
I bought it primarily to save money on my electric bill but I had four teens using my oven all the time! But it's turned out even better - I really like it. Just doing some chicken breasts for dinner now. |

"I was always a bit iffy about lots of kitchen gadgets, and also don't have the biggest of kitchens.
*Honestly not on commission
That's what we have. Let us know how the gammon joint works out
"
Worked a treat was a day late at making it though. Done roast setting 180° for 50 minutes, turned it 3 or 4 times. |

"What are the chips like? "
The chips are great, and if you cook them with flavoured oils or seasonings, even better!
Also, the roast potatoes are even better than oven cooked. |
