I fricking hate this as a be all statement? Surely we're all pretty 'kind' in general ragardless?... Plus I personally see it getting applied to women who are just stating an opinion? Seems to be applied way more than to men?... Out of curiosity how many guys do get told/hear this when they make a comment someone might not like? |

For me ‘be kind’ is a reminder to be more emphatic. You can still have your opinion but if they eat you say it will cause offence then find another way of saying it.

I don't agree that we are all kind. There's too many people that make comment and judgement on others without a second thought. Sometimes we need reminding that words hurt and stick with a person forever.
There's worse mottos to live by than be kind. |

I see more men being told it than women on here. Especially of they express an opinion that goes against the grain.
I find it's phrase thrown about and quite often used by people who don't take their own advice.
There are trolls and people who have difference of opinion on here. The trolls should just be ignored and it would be boring as hell is everyone agreed all the time it's good to see the differing opinions |

I think that the original statement was intended to remind folks to be respectful and to think with compassion.
Now it’s used as a stick whenever someone doesn’t like another’s post.
We do have a responsibility to use language carefully but we also can control our reactions to others too.
‘Be kind’ is intended as a reminder that we don’t know what others are going through but it’s a two way thing. Just because someone has issues, they still have a responsibility to try and be respectful too. Being hurt and angry isn’t an excuse for being an asshole and then hiding behind ‘be kind’ to the responses and repercussions |

Social media is a cesspit .Getting regular abuse relentlessly anywhere is unnecessary and that includes social media . So, Be Kind is a reminder to those who aren’t . And a reminder to those who are, continue being a decent human being . |

am kind. I’m kinda a nice guy. Kind to those who are the same to me, I like to think what goes around comes around.
So if I see many people being kind, I expect I will be kind as well, as I’m surrounded by those type of people.
If I’m kinda being a tw*t?… well you can guess what company I am in. |

I totally agree on the orginal context it came about that it's extremely valid. I just feel it's been so unfortunately diluted via twisting it out of context, that it sadly holds no weight in the orginal meaning anymore perhaps? And others use it as a smokescreen to them bash others online perhaps? |

I think people try to be kind on the whole. Some things said can be taken out of context and not received or intended in the way written.
I do think though that if a person writes "I don't want to cause offence" but then goes onto to say something that will do just that, that's seemingly cloaked in kindness. However, if they were really kind they wouldn't say it knowing if would cause offence. |

More often than not it's used by people who want others to do as they say, not as they do.
I've never noticed a gender imbalance in its use but it no longer carries any weight because of its misuse.
It has almost become patronising when people offer differing opinions even if they are well thought out and meaningful and others say " now, now, be kind!"
Of course we don't know what others are going through, especially not on an anonymous site like this but if you kick open a saloon door and come in shooting some people will duck for cover but others will shoot back.
Telling people you are a c*nt and they need to accept that does not absolve you from being a c*nt.
Playing the victim card after launching a grenade is a pathetic approach. |
