Hello
A rather random and boring topic; I apologise! I especially apologise for it being on a Friday night.
However, just wondering if anyone here has any knowledge of embroidery, and if so, what’s the best fabric to use? I’m currently working on a project and the fabric is just really messing me about. It’s a satin stitch heavy project.
Sorry again for such a boring topic! I don’t have any irl friends who do embroidery so hopefully someone here can help! |

"Linen or cotton is my fabric of preference for embroidery of that nature.
When you say it's a heavy project what do you mean? Is it more tapestry?"
I think the fabric I’m using now is a linen cotton blend but it’s really low quality so it’s just completely messing up. It’s either the fabric, or I might have the hoop too tight?
I don’t really know how to explain it without a picture lol, but there’s a lot of filler stitches so that’s weighing it down |

"No idea but I started doing some for the first time on Monday.
It's terrible, uneven, large and brash. Oh well."
There’s a lot of great tutorials on YouTube! They definitely helped me out a lot when I first started |

So the fabric is too fine for the weight of the stitches? How many strands of floss/thread are you using? |

I’m using three strands and it’s all satin stitch |

I'd say three is too many if the fabric is fine. Try two. |
