In one recent case, a 51-year-old man had to be rushed to hospital after getting a carpet cleaning ball stuck in his anus.
After failing to remove the 7cm to 8cm diameter plastic ball himself using a screwdriver and a spoon, the man turned up to A&E in excruciating pain.
As the ball was actually wider than his pelvic outlet, extracting it was a difficult mission for the doctors.
Having located the ball using X-rays and an abdominal CT scan, the first attempt to remove the ball the following morning failed.
In their second attempt, doctors opted for a laparotomy, where ‘abdominal wall layers are opened layer by layer’ before trying to ‘push the ball down through the rectum’, the Metro reported. However, this method also didn’t work.
This gave doctors no choice. They had to dissect the ball first before they could remove it. They did this by using an electric drill to puncture the ball before chopping it up into three parts.
It took doctors seven hours to complete the surgery and discharge the patient with a colostomy bag, booking him in for a proctosigmoidoscopy examination two months later.
The man has reportedly complied with his treatment plan and follow-up visits after being discharged, indicating that he has not stuck anything else up his bum ever since....

Let me guess, he was cleaning the carpets naked, so he didn't get his clothing dirty, when he slipped on some spilt liquid..... |

 we shouldn't joke but honestly you'd think people would know better
I took my son to a and e late one night and there was a guy behind us in the queue complaining loudly about his anus and insisting he needed a wheelchair. My son was too young for that conversation so I quickly moved away but part of me wanted to know the back story. |

OP I have been following your threads recently. Can you tell us which newspaper publishes these kind of news? Tired of reading politics. It would be mentally stimulating to read these kind of newspapers for a change. |
