They’ve had security tags on for years now… my son is 10 and I remember them being on his brand as it was a certain type therefore more expensive than others

In Tesco they keep Jack Daniels in the stockroom and you have to ask for it at the till.
I didn't realise this and was heartbroken when I saw the empty shelf, until someone pointed out the little notice stuck on the shelf.

When I was studying I worked in a Co-op and our store was the same. We actually only put empty ones on shelves and kept full ones behind the till.

Another reason is that it's low risk. Supermarkets don't want the publicity that comes with prosecuting someone for stealing baby milk. |

It's first stage milk (up to 6 months). Heavy marketing at new parents undermines breastfeeding rates. Now in reality that's a bag of shite and breastfeeding rates are low for many reasons, including personal choice. But that's the WHO international code rule.

Everyone ultimately, if wealth was distributed more fairly. Can easily be done we just prefer to have the insane inequality of billionaires flying on private jets whilst starving mothers shoplift basics.

Why should everything be free? The “human race” has far too many participants who cannot look after themselves? We will not evolve to be able to leave this planet by depending not on feeding those who can’t even plan to feed their babies.
So yea whilst I agree on pure humanitarian grounds food should be affordable. I don’t think it should be free or we as a global society encourage the low intelligence to breed even more. It serves no purpose other than the accelerate our doom! |

Perhaps nothing, perhaps a cure for cancer. Since they don't and never will have that opportunity, you will never know.
But you surely can't dispute that a very large proportion of societies problems are caused by poverty leading to low quality of life and poor health - all things that cost every single one of us both financially and in terms of safety for everyone.

If that was the case, you might have a point. Colleagues of mine have over 30 families on their case load at any given time.
That's 30 families being supported through difficult times. Over 90 children being safeguarded. And potentially 30 families being referred to a food bank, where they can access items like the ones you'll be generously donating.
Even if all of that can be done in an hour (which i, I'm not sure why the two actions are mutually exclusive.
