Had chatted for weeks spoken on the phone, exchanged pictures etc. Finally decided to arrange a date in a pub.
I turned up. She did 20 minutes late. no excuse. Ordered a coffee. sat in absolute silence. Then after 10 minutes, we agreed that it wasn't going anywhere and both agreed to call it a day |

I started dating this girl, first date goes great, second date planned. Then, out of the blue i get a phone call from her. Her dad has been in a car crash and is in a really bad way. So, technically, our second date was me taking her to the hospital whilst her Dad was having life saving brain surgery. I spent it trying to comfort her Dad's gf who was shunned by the rest of the family and was in a complete state. Not the easiest time I've had. Needless to say her Dad pulled through and she cheated on my a few months later. |

Most of my nightmares were linked to match.com some years ago.
The South African:
We matched and chatted then suggested a meet. She picked the time and place in Leeds, I lived a bit further out of town than her. I arrived 5 mins early and walked into the bar looking around. After a moment this voice says "are you just going to ignore me then?" I look and say something like "Oh sorry, I didn't see you there, I was just looking to see if you were here yet" to which she said "I've been waiting for 10 minutes, it's polite to be early! Didn't you recognise me then?"
I refrained from saying "well you seem to be about 10 years older and 3 stone heavier than the image you gave me so that made it a bit tricky" and plumped for a polite "sorry, I haven't been here before and was just getting my bearings " then offered a drink.
We had one drink, the chat wasn't great, she told me she hoped I had driven, as her getting a taxi home would be a nightmare. I dropped her home and went back for a relaxing drink!
She called me the following day and I missed the call, so I rang back about an hour later to say no chance of anythingfurther, the phone just answered then hung up, I thought there was an issue so tried again, same happened so I left it. The next day she left a message saying how rude it was to not answer her first call and why did I try calling her back twice when her battery was low and I would make it run out when she needed to be contactable.
Blocked and moved on! |
