Why is it that people are so keen to contradict other people's post that it's so obvious most of the time they have not even read the whole thing. They come back with nonsensical questions when the answer is already in the post they are replying to. It's not a race or a competition, take your time and then your reply will have more kudos or perhaps the person you are replying to will actually consider your reply respectfully. I certainly switch off and wave goodbye, no time for argumentative people, yes I mean intentionally and repetitively argumentative, not just having an opinion which is of course great as we all learn from one another. This from someone whose favourite threads are the ones about cakes |

"That’s part and parcel of the forum.
You can challenge it, moan about it or laugh but one thing is certain - you’ll never change it"
I know, I just felt I needed a little diversion from the cakes. I trying to be good |

"Must admit I’m guilty of commenting without reading a whole thread so I probably ask/comment things that have already been said "
Tbh Nora I do too sometimes. It was individual posts I was referring to that they are replying. |

"I've been attacked a couple of times for comments made by other people simply because they quoted me when saying something controversial and others read it as my comment. And I hate cake!!"

Why do you dislike cake, Mr. Bites? |

"I've just read this WHØLE thread from top to bottom and couldn't find the answer to my question....
...does anyone on here like Gin? "
Humour is welcome in any thread I am sure. Btw I have a bottle of tanqueray but run out of tonic and have not yet reached the point of neat gin |

"Some only read a few posts so don’t quite get the full flow of the convo. "
I agree and I sometimes I do too. It was really about those replying and quoting a particular post, selecting just bits to suit. |

Yes that does happen too, it's all part of the race to reply |

Forum interactions generally fall into 3 categories.
1) Want to impress so they will always agree with what they say
2) Opportunities to put someone down hoping to elevate their own status. Generally it’s been putting down other men
3) I’m not gaining anything from interacting with you so I will ignore. Again a status thing
There are of course some wonderful people who fall into none of these but a majority do

That's a good summary. I am not usually bothered to be honest. I am certainly not here to entertain anybody's desire to argue till the cows come home. It seems that some just thrive on it. It's sad really but there you go. And as you say, plenty of lovely people who I enjoy reading their opinions and have a banter with. |
