"At home tonight having a glass of red. If 40 years ago someone would of said you would be drinking Red wine would of laughed at you. How things change . Have you reached this time in your life. "
I was saying not an hour ago that it's 40 years since I left school. My drinks of choice at the time were Mateus with a meal and dry martini and lemonade at the pub! |

"Why they would laugh ? Wasn't red wine a thing at the time ?
It was the era of Watney’s Red Barrel and in the north they didn’t yet have corkscrews…" Bodcan was a thing aswell Byron. Boddingtons in a can . A local beer |

Oh yes count me in my friend, after a holiday to Spain with my dad when I was about 13 and merrily has a great night at the banquet with sangria fountain and free flowing bottles of red wine up until I ended up flaked out on the dance floor, sick on the bus and out for the count on hotel floor while my dad got the key, ended up feeling like death the next day or three, or four, I couldn’t even stand the smell of it until about 4 years ago and now I love it, very very strange |

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else |
Never liked wine.
An occasional champagne or prosecco is OK.
I think I was just starting on Strongbow 40 years ago - somewhat worrying, it was what the cub scout leaders used to give us at night when camping! |

The wine available in the UK 40 years ago (unless you were very rich) was absolutely plonk. I mean, we used to think Mateus Rose and Libfraumilch were 'posh'!. It all began to change in the mid to late 80s when decent Australian Chardonnay began to arrive, championed by people like Ox Clark on telly. Cheers! |

40 years ago was the first time i got d*unk , asked my mum i wanted to drink , she told me to go to the fridge . While she was putting outside clothes to dry i was walking and tumbling d*unk, in the garden, covered with a white bed sheet and with a bottle of red wine in my hand. The neighbours they alerted my mum when they realised i was intoxicated |

My choice of drink 40 years ago was Theakston's Old Peculiar. Nowadays, although I enjoy a pint of bitter, I prefer Guinness, as well as red and white wine.
Saying that, I'm currently washing down some Hob Nobs with a large glass of Laphroaig single malt whisky. Pure class, me! |
