Excluding lockdown obviously.

Mine was in 1988, I have organised a great party and my girlfriend left me the day before.

Ended up with a bottle of gin and got d*unk all the evening. Cannot remember most of it.

I cannot drink gin anymore since then

The 2 my ex husband compleatly forgot.

The one where he brought me a hand cream, and him a bottle of Jim beam.

Having to share every birthday with my twin. Lots as a child having a joint prescent. A football for example.

Or having to share my first bike with my twin when we were 6. I only got to ride it when it had a puncture.

Take your pick.

I’ve a friend who went out walking up a mountain for her 50 birthday. They had a argument at the top and ended up coming down about 50 meters apart.

My 18th. Everyone else in my family had a huge celebration. I was told that we were having it at home.

Only plus side was that I spent more time with the family dog.

I've had several terrible birthdays. My family are not big on celebrating them. So I've never had parties and stuff.

My 14th birthday I had my tonsils out. My 18th, I had a head on collision with a lorry (I wasn't driving). One memorable one was my partner trying to kill himself and take us with him.

I'm determined that 40 is going to be great!

My 16th, my dad died a couple of days before. And absolutely horrendous for my mum and brother too.

On the plus side ever other birthday has been an improvement on that one luckily.

Hmmm. Had a few. When I was married my wife invited all of HER friends to a bbq at ours so I ended up prepping, cooking then cleaning up while they all got smashed... so I was also looking after everyone's kids.

Another when I was remodelling the kitchen and she decided to fuck off to her friends for the weekend leaving me on my own working 18 hour days. Almost had a breakdown over that.

I've also spent 5 of my last 7 birthdays in various shitty desserts around the world. This year will be my first birthday since 2016 I get to spend with family and friends.

My 40th was awesome.

In lockdown.

My recently made ex was out fucking other women.

I'd ran out of wine.

Spent the day not talking to another adult.

To clarify, it would of been the same even without the lockdown part.

I get the impression you enjoy not talking to other adults so that’s got to be a win right there.

On balance I have probably had more terrible birthdays than good ones.

Over the years partners have tried bless them to make it as good for me as possible but the events that caused my hatred of that day cast a very deep dark shadow.

Same as Christmas.
