Blackout Tattoos

Wouldn't this be considered the same thing as blackface?

I'm kidding, I'm reeling the line back in. But seriously, it's something I'm seeing more of recently and other than covering up an old tattoo, I'm genuinely curious as to why people would get a part of their body entirely covered.

Is it something you've looked into getting done or what are your general thoughts on it?

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Lumps of tattoo ink aren't artistic enough for my tastes.

I use to work with someone and he was just covered in black blobs and bands, seems pointless to me considering you could have something that at least looks like something

Very interesting takes. I agree with the above points. I don't have any tattoos so thought I just didn't "get it"

I admire tattoos though for the design and the meanings behind them which it why the whole blackout thing stumped me a bit

I don’t get the black out style, however elements of it are cool, there are usually large black shapes in trash polka and I like the black out with a white design on top, some of those look cool!

There are many tattoos I have seen that I don’t get.

My view point is it’s their body and if they are happy with it then they can do what they want

Surely a tattoo, whatever it’s form, is the indulgence of the wearer, any one else’s opinion of it is a bit irrelevant.

P. S. I have no tattoos

Think they look great when white ink is added.

Everyone we know that has done it has there own reasons as to why they have done it. And to be honest if done properly and based on a design it’s quite hot.

I guess it’s each to their own!

I don't think he's talking about something based on a design like tribal with a pattern. Just plain blobs that look like nothing I think

I just thought they were covering up old tattoos when I’ve seen full blocks on arms. Hiding a youth or a lifestyle change or some employers really don’t like them on show

Sometimes yes but not always and you can get covers without just having solid black. My koi is a cover up tattoo

Yes, I just think if done properly it can look good. Providing it’s not just a single blob on a bare arm as laser removal would be better suited
