Finally got round to finishing! Have to admit the last couple of episodes got a bit tedious and I zoned out quite a lot but the ending was just really... Underwhelming. I LOVED this show since it first came out and I do understand why the writers went with the ending they did but it just went out with such a sad little unsatisfying whimper

Isn’t that the way of so many brilliant TV series in recent years. Amazing to follow, then end with a feeling of wtf?

On first viewing I agreed but watching it over I think it was spot on. It would have been so easy to have a morally satisfying finale but life with the Byrdes was never like that!

Yeah... I feel like writers want to go down more of a profound and thought-provoking route these days, with endings that "stay with you". What they fail to realise is that people watch these things to take them away from their daily lives, and have invested - sometimes years - of their time hoping for satisfying endings with everything wrapped up with a neat little bow.

I would have preferred to see them either get away with everything or pay for their crimes, instead of the ambiguous note they left it on.

I loved Øzark. But I agree the ending was dispiriting and underwhelming. Shame really.

Don't know, too ambiguous

I think they have been getting away with everything lol— I think the ending just signifies that the cycle repeats itself..but inevitably they’ll find a way to get out of xyz. And on top of that, the new generation is caught up in the cycle too now.

For me, it's not the morality of ending that's a problem. I believe that Jonah shot either the detective or the cookie jar. Either way, they escape any consequences.

My problem is with the stupidity of that scene. A supposedly smart detective decides to stay outside their home to sit and brag about the evidence he collected that would send them to jail? Even taking his arrogance into account, that looked too lame.

It's a good show overall. But some fans exaggerated it by comparing to Breaking bad which is still my favourite TV show of all time.

That was my take too. The idea they could leave the life they'd led behind was a fantasy, they could only get in deeper. Of course they'd fall foul of the Cartel or cops eventually but I think it would have been too neat to end the show that way. Also leaves door open for spin offs or follow ups.

Yeah I was definitely not under the impression they would actually leave the Ozarks. And I get how that final scene is a mirror of the scene in season 1 where Jonah tried shooting that trespasser (can't remember his name) but failed and Buddy had to save him. This time he didn't hesitate and didn't need anyone to save him.

Also thought it was interesting that Marty gave him that defeated "I know this is a massive mistake but it's the only choice" look, instead of his usual 100mph rambling while trying to defuse the situation. It's like everyone just succumbed to their inevitable reality in that one moment.

Bham

Excellent performances throughout. I think the show reached its emotional peak with Ben. Everything after that felt like an anti climax.

I don't mind ambiguity.
