Lifting Weights after a tattoo?

I (Jack) had a tattoo on my forearm a week ago.

Does anyone with experience know how long I need to wait before lifting weights? Do I need to wait till it's fully healed, or is a week off long enough?

A week is plenty. I’ve been back to the gym within a few days after each of my tattoos. As long as you keep it clean and don’t let it rub too much you’ll be fine.

Forearm should be okay. I'd keep the reps slow, but should all be good (not a tattoo artist tho. Can you chat to who did it?)

Cheers, folks.

I was nervous about the stretching and overly sweating. But I'll take it easy.

I work a physical job where I have to move constantly and I’ve been straight to work after a tattoo. As long as you keep it clean and moisturised you can do physical activities as soon as you like.

No one famous. It was a female-lead studio in Northampton.

I'm sure they'd know! I'd hope they'd give aftercare services.

Like people have said, a gym session should be fine but if a swim is part of your routine I'd stay out the pool unless you want to risk infection.

Personally I stayed off a couple of weeks to give it time to fully heal, reducing any risks of stretching the healing skin or infecting it.

This was my assumption. Thanks.
