Went out for a meal last night, our reservation was for 6:15pm we arrived early and we didn't get seated until 7:15, they kind of blamed previous customers for outstaying their time slot (losts of alcohol was drank)

It's a small place, only nine or so table's, first time visiting, slightly over priced but...to compensate they gave us 4 free drinks, and knocked 20% of the bill.

Do you give a good review or a truthful review?

And yes I'm a reviewer for my sins

Nothing wrong with a good honest review

I’ve been a reviewer in the past. Especially if there’s been something poor to mention. I think of it as warning others.

However I think I’ve mellowed in my recent years and would just as rather leave positive feedback as negative.

It’s good to know what you’re doing right as well as wrong.

I rely on reviews to decide where we are going, weather it be restaurants, Airbnb's, tourist attractions

Depends how they treated you overall. It seems to me that they recognised the issues with the extra drinks and discount. I would not leave personally a review in this situation or if you do, you need to be fair and say that they dealt with it.

I don’t review, and I take the reviews I read with a massive dose of salt.

I’ve had great experiences with poorly rated companies. I’ve had shit experiences with companies that get a whole heap of rave reviews.

As others said sometimes it's very personal and subjective. I never seem to be amazed about some hotel reviews when people rave for example about the food and you visit and is nothing more than glorified canteen food. It's either people are very easily pleased, often confuse quantity with quality, never had better or whatever. It has made me very sceptical about it and often ignore, try to cross-reference or read between the lines for other clues

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I don't do reviews, but, in OP situation, I think I'd try and accentuate the positive.

"Handled what could have been a problem really well. Honest communication, offered resolutions", etc

No ive never really thought about doing it tbh

Which is odd as I do it all the time to my friends, especially regarding the food pics I send to all of them

I was asked once if I would review a car tuning company I had used.

I said I would be happy to but as a dyslexic I need help spelling "... incompetent, dishonest, mercenary, charlatans..." You should have seen the look on his face until he recognised I was joking.

I review.

I think it’s equally as important to leave good reviews and not just critical ones.

Were you happy with how they handled the situation?

I find it upsetting when situations are dealt with in house and then people complain again or leave a negative review (and never mention they were compensated at the time)

Screams to me they want freebies coz they tend to fail to mention anything positive at all.

I'm a waitress and all reviews that have negative things about them and complaints are investigated fully.

I would imagine though that only having 9 tables would mean delays happen quite regularly due to not having any "back up" tables for those who take the piss or leave a ton of mess that takes a fair amount of time to clean up before it's at an acceptable standard for the next people.

Both-truthful about yr experience but the outcome was good i.e. took a while to be seated owing to previous customers but the restaurant recognised and valued u as a customer and compensated u in a way that u felt was fair. Bottom line would u return or recommend. All in all sounds like they at least made an attempt to acknowledge the situation to keep u happy.

I'm a bit of a serial reviewer, always give an honest account and be as positive as I can.
