A cyclist was arrested on the M3. Apparently it's against the law to ride a pushbike on the M3..

They should throw the book at him

If he's a quick cyclist, it would be a tough job to throw a book and actually hit him.

Not uncommon I believe.

Saw a cyclist on the M1 last Monday too - walking his bike down the hard shoulder against the flow of traffic

Of course. No pedestrians, no cyclists, no skateboards and no learners on the motorways of the Uk

Was this bike sitting in a bike rack, mounted to the roof of a BMW M3?

Outriding? Outcycling? Running does not involve bicycles, at least not as far as I can remember (sadly running is no longer in my repertoire).

That's a bit extreme. Not even community service?

That's why he got caught, running whilst carrying a bike is harder than you expect and reduces your speed and agility.

Bit dangerous to throw the book at him. He might fall off.

I always thought the hard shoulder was a cycle lane

You are wrong.

It is perfectly legal to cycle on a bypass.

There are many legal things I wouldn't risk. Cycling on a dual carriageway is definitely one of them.

What’s that got to do with my comment that it’s legal to cycle on a bypass ?

Liverpool

I had to call the police once as I spotted a cyclist at the end of a central reservation where it opened up for an A road to merge with the motorway. No idea how he got there or how he was planning on getting off.

Did this story come from a police spokes-person?
