Hi my hubby suffers from burning feet at night which due to arthritis, muscle wastage and poor circulation it cannot be helped.
So I'm wondering if anyone has the same condition and what they do to help? |

Yes he also has a fan aimed at his feet but still not cutting it.
So far getting in warm bath and even the temperature in his whole body then adding cold till he's shivering then try to sleep but its a small window before they are hot again |

You could fill a juice bottle with water then put it in the freezer. When frozen roll it with your feet (with socks on to avoid freezer burn) the coolness will help with the burning, the rolling should help with the circulation as well as massage the tendon underneath but also worth finding out if Plantar Fasciitis has set in too. You can also do the above with a tennis ball but it won’t help with the burning. |

I suffer with rheumatoid arthritis and find a hot water bottle with hot water for my joints when I get flare ups and a hot water bottle filled with cold water for my feet. I’ve also joined gym and started doing light cardio exercise on the spin bike and treadmill walking with high incline to raise my heart rate up for 40 minutes or so as helped big time |

Add some salt to the water before freezing. It gets colder and stays frozen longer. |

Hubby has had several plantar injuries and some mild arthritis in the ball of his foot from excessive running. Doesn’t sound anywhere near as bad as what you’re experiencing though. When it was really bad he used a tennis ball and dog toy ball before bed to loosen everything up. Hope it improves xx |

It is suggested that if you put a bar of soap at the bottom of your bed that helps look it up “the benefits of placing soap on your bed” anything is worth a try |

No need for salt, only meant to do this for 20 mins at a time, then put back in freezer. Can also use your mains powered wand on the sole/s of feet before putting shows on and walking, makes a huge difference. If you have chronic Plantar Fasciitis like I do, it can take up to 2 yrs for one foot to heal properly or it will just flare up, get a bit better, flare up, etc… |

have you considered a feet fan cooler
as long as his feet remian still at night a foot cooler is a good option and you can build one on the cheap
as goes for covers you use a lift bar so there feet arnt covered
this all depends on your bed type as well |

No amount of cooling fans, sprays, creams are going to stop the burning pain of nerve damage. There is no cure or remedy.
You mention Lyrica - the dose mentioned is pretty low, he could speak to his doc about increasing the dose of Lyrica to see if that helps a bit.
I've had nerve damage for 5yrs now and my bad foot burns incessantly. At night, I stick it out of the bed covers because the weight of the duvet makes it worse. |

Unless you've experienced nerve pain it's impossible to understand. I experienced a slow trickle of water down the outside of my leg and stinging along with the excruciating pain and semi numb sensation.
Mr N has that sort of itching sensation and stabbing along with the pain.
Nothing helps. |

Coming in to echo trying amitriptyline.
I damaged my ulnar nerve pretty badly a year or so ago, amitriptyline is the only thing that has helped.
My physio did say that some nerve damage can take years to heal fully, if it all.

There's a painkiller on sale in Ireland called Solpadeine that works for me when it happens due to diabetes
Available in chemists but over here you have to answer questions first from the pharmacist as it contains codeine

Someone already taking co-codamol shouldn't be recommended to take another codeine containing product. The OP has stated that co-codamol (paracetamol and codeine) and Lyrica (pregabalin) are being used. |

When it's really bad, I fantasise about having my leg amputated. |

I understand completely. I'm in the fortunate position of having had most of my symptoms alleviated by surgery but I used to drive to work thinking that if some crashed into the drivers side of my car maybe the injury to my leg would help with the pain. It sounds extreme but when you're desperate you'll consider extreme measures |
