Hah.
So for the occasion today I am wearing new heels, my lovely, lovely new Kurt Geiger bag that I got out of the box today! And here I am in a pub car park killing a bit of time before I go back home after spending lots of time in traffic.
It is -very- rare for me to be spontaneous and meet on the day, but today I started chatting to someone who seemed ok, decent profile, literate and articulate , so we arranged to meet for a social.
Now, I -am- a punctual person. I work in aviation, I have to be! But today it was one thing after another at home and then I was caught in Gatwick backroads traffic. I did give this person my phone number and he said he tried to Whatsapp me but it wasn’t going through, and well, I was driving, so couldn’t communicate, and didnt have his number to call… so I park up at the pub 7 min late, and I see a barrage of abuse from him, and I am blocked!
I did go inside the pub (didn’t bother putting the heels on, hahaha he lost that treat!) to see what this was all about… but he’d already left. Or was never here in the first place? He did send a photo of a pint in the sun lol.
I am probably one of the most verified people on Fab. Another person I met a couple of days ago (lovely guy) said I am one of the most respected people on Fab (big compliment) so to be called fake and a cocktease… well…. I suppose I dodged a bullet there.
How late is too late for you? How long will you wait for a meet? I will wait half an hour no problem. I know life happens and people can be late. If it’s a bit later I guess I will be but I’ll still wait. One hour and I will probably leave. This had never happened to me before!
All that effort in dressing up. Haha. I adore my Neon Pink Steve Madden Heels! Do you? |

Oh dear A, his loss!
Im very very punctual but theres the occasional time something may make me late and ill phone or message those im meeting. I expect the same, on a social ill generally make myself 5 mins early generally grab a drink and give it until my drinks finished, if shes a no show im off home. I wont get narky with whoever it is... it'll just be a lesson learned and itd be hard for that particular person to earn my time |

I don't have a hard limit
However I usually ask them to put the address in maps so it will tell them a estimated time so I know roughly what time to expect them in case they are late and can't text because they're driving
Doubt I'd wait longer than 30 mins though especially without a call to say that they're caught in traffic or something |

I always am. I don’t like being told off!
All airport personnel have to be on time. That planes don’t leave on time is anotheratter entirely. |

I think that's silly after 7 min and investing the effort to go there in the first place. Any adult with any life experience under their belt knows life doesn't always go to plan or schedule (especially us who are single parents). I get a lot of people are let down a lot and thus he may have been over sensitive to the feeling it may have happened again. But waiting less than 7 mins is foolish. And giving loads of abuse is fruitless and childish. It disappointing for you I bet because he seemed like a choice? But after that reaction I guess it's a block. Sorry your plans fell through. |

Half an hour minimum.
Traffic these days can often be shit. Phone signals can also be terrible and yes, if one of you is driving you can't be expected to send/read messages.
Even if I'd given up and left after that half hour - why the abuse and the block? A simple " I assume something's come up and it's been half an hour so I'm off" message would suffice.
If people are that pissy that they'll run after a mere 7 minutes then more fool them.

I always try and arrive early.
I’d then make sure I was meeting somewhere there was something to do.
I would never “wait” as such, I’d pass the time having a drink, some food or a browse of fab until I was ready to leave. |

What a twat.
Anyone can be a little late due to circumstances beyond their control. And if you’re driving, or on the tube, maybe on a train… you may not be able to call or text. If you were going to be half an hour late, I’m sure you would do what I would and stop so you could send an apologetic message explaining and saying you would be there as soon as possible. But 7 minutes? Come on. That’s traffic, a delayed train, a busy station, finding a parking space, etc…
I suspect the truth here is that he got cold feet, panicked, and used it as an excuse to run away.
His loss!!! |

I’m not sure I have a hard time limit to wait, but think I’d likely wait 15-30 mins at least without any communication. Definitely a bullet dodged if he couldn’t even wait 7 minutes!! |

Depends what was planned, but a drink on the way home from work then I would wait say 30mins?
But would be more than happy to rearrange for another time.
Longest I've waited was 2 hours when I had travelled 30 miles.
I gave up and went home furious at having my time wasted.
but I did listen to the explanation and give another chance.
Thankfully not meeting anybody new now so I don't need to stress about it any more! |

We would wait for around 30 mins but maybe longer as we are a couple which avoids the issue of sitting on our own looking sad and lonely. For a first meet and because it is a Friday which in our experience always makes travelling take longer we would certainly give the benefit of the doubt and hang around for quite a bit. |

This almost sounds like a gag
Personally, I'd say 30-45 minutes is a fair amount to wait. You never know what might have happened and life doesn't always go according to plan!
Plus, there are people that are always fashionably 5 minutes late and that don't make them teasers and timewasters

7 minutes??
Someone waited an hour for me once, outside a station.
I communicated throughout and apologised.
He had travelled across London to see me and I only had a 15/20 minute bus ride, but he had already left and was underground when I realised I'd be late.
I'd wait until I finished my drink if I was left waiting with no sign of anyone turning up.

As soon as I arrive I would txt or message that I am here if there is no response I would send a 2nd message after 30 minutes that I am here if still no response I would send a 3rd message after 30 minutes to say that I have been here a hour now can you please message me if I don’t hear from you in 30 minutes I assume you have had a change of heart or something has happened and you can’t make it. I feel 90 minutes is more than enough time for someone to message me back to let me know what is happening. |

I am used to meeting people who, among themselves, refer to being on 'African Time'.
It seems to work for them and I have had to get used to it through lack of choice but where it gets silly is on occasions like christenings.
The church isn't going to be lackadaisical about time, so the actual baptism takes place as arranged at 3pm but nobody else starts showing up for the reception until about 9.30pm and, again, the church hall janitor wants everyone out by 10pm!
As a time zone, it is on a continent of its own. |

I believe the moment you realise you're going to be late you should make an effort to let them know...although you didn't have his number, you could have tried and message him on fab.
Now with that being said, I usually wait 15 minutes...if I don't hear anything from them, it's safe to say they're not coming. If they had a legitimate reason for not coming or being late, I am happy to reschedule...if they say they were 30 min late because of traffic, I most likely wouldn't give them a second chance. |

5 years ago I arranged a meet in a pud in South Woodford for 530pm .
Now before I go any further you need to know this about me , I was raised to never leave a lady waiting so I get there for 5.15pm.
We had been chatting through messages all day and I knew the lady in question had book a hair appointment 4pm on the day .
So I arrive at the pub and to cut this story short at 6pm I message her saying and these where my exact words where the bloody hell are.
I get a message back a few minutes later saying just leaving the hair dressers now be there in about 20 minutes .
At this stag I'm pissed and I don't f-ing care she's getting it .so I send a message back saying words to the effect your taking the piss out of me by the time your get here your going to be a hour late do you think this is exceptable behavior towards me.
I got a instant message back saying words to the effect no it's not I'm so sorry please wait to 6.30 I will be there .
Now I have got to admit I didn't expect a message back but because she did message back agreeing with me .i decide to wait to dead on 6.30 thinking if she didn't show and the whole thing was a whined up it would be the first time ever I'd made a mistake in my judgement of who to meet .
She turned up I had the hump told her off again , she apologised 25 minutes later over a drink we was laughing about it , I've been topping her for 5 years now found out a good few months later that me telling her off was such massive turn on for her . she also told me she always turned up late to the first social meet as a test to see if the guys were trully dominant . I was the first guy to ever her words now mine have the balls to tell her off .
Guess you failed his test OP You may not like to here this , but good on him for walking away .you was late you should have left 10 minutes earlier .the only excuse for lateness in my book would be something like the cars just blown up .

Why is that? Obviously I am NOT the *most* verified profile on Fab, but the summary gives a somewhat clear indication that I *will* turn up if I agree to meet someone… and the verifications are fairly consistent.

How could she "not be arsed" to turn up on time? OP has clearly explained what happened. Seven minutes is hardly any time, let's be honest. It's hardly enough time to wait at the bar and order a drink, FFS. When someone is driving, they cannot legally send messages or make calls and so it sounds like the OP did her utmost to inform the person.
It sounds like the individual she intended to meet was highly impatient. |

She didn't sign up for a test. She signed up for a social. If you cannot understand that sometimes, completely unexpected things can cause minor delays (of 7 minutes), then you aren't living in reality. Plenty of genuine things can happen at the last minute to cause delays or cancellation. Cars blowing up is extreme to the point of being ridiculous. |

If I'm waiting in a pub or a coffee shop I'd give it a good hour without hearing anything. It's a social and I'm already chilling anyway. I was once 15 minutes late, but was able to let the lady know by messaging. I had actually been early, but twigged I was at the wrong venue. Didn't realise there are two in the same city.. |

I don't have a set time myself,
I'd order a 2nd drink and if still a no show by then, leave a msg that I'm leaving for such n such place, they can find me there or not, their loss at the end of the day. |

I’m quite punctual and been on several dates over the last year or so. I think I have been slightly late on a couple of occasions. By late maybe 10 minutes at the worst.
If those ladies had kicked off, I’d say good riddance to them. Certainly if the shoe (even one’s not as nice as yours op) had been on the other foot I wouldn’t be too bothered and would wait for at least half an hour, longer if I received a message.
Great shoe choice Op, enjoy them |

Do you? "
I think 30mins late is fine anything after needs a good reason and traffic seems fair enough, over a hour I would have left. |

She didn't sign up for a test. She signed up for a social. And it's normal to send a barrage of abuse to someone who arrived 7 minutes late to a social meeting? That's not normal in anyone's world, surely?
Again, you've clearly missed the OP references to unexpected delays (at home and on the roads). I once spent 7hrs sat in my car on the M6 just beyond Keele Services. We missed an appointment to collect the keys for my friends new flat. Presumably we were supposed to apparate there or something?? We expected an unexpected delay (someone died in an RTA and the motorway was closed all day). We left Birkenhead at 9am and arrived in Uttoxeter after 6pm. Should have been a 2hr drive, ish and was clear when we set off. |

I bet you he was never even there.
I've never known a man not wait a reasonable amount of time.
I give it half an hour at most, but get myself a coffee in the mean time and just sit and relax.
You were obviously just an outlet for whatever issues he has. He'll probably come crawling back in a week or 3 |

The word you want to use is “unacceptable”, not “unexceptable”… in my book, literacy is as important as punctuality.
Going to leave it here, peeps- thanks a lot for all of you who took time (we all have valuable time) to reply and voice an opinion. I am glad to know I wasn’t being unreasonable. And yes, it will be back to message ping-pong of several days before deciding if I want to meet for a social…

The sun is shining, it’s a beautiful day, you have had flirty banter with a foxy lady who wants to meet in person, I would have sat out in the garden for at least an hour, had a pint, then onto lemonades, it’s not very often planets align like this….. his loss most definitely and even if you were two hours late and he’d left, an hour in a pub garden with good weather never killed anybody |

Since when is calling someone a timwaster a cock tease abuse the guy is telling the OP his opinion of her after she didn't turn up on time .
She's to blame action have consequences she couldn't be arse to turn up to a meet on time , don't give me any crap about things happen.
First she could have left out at a time that gave her plenty of time to arrive on time .
Secondly she could have at anytime messaged the fella saying I'm running about 15 minutes late sorry about this please bare with me I will be there you have my word .
Two basic things that 90 precent of most human being would do as a sign of respect to the other human being they are meeting .
The OP ether choose not to do these couple of very basic things or thought I don't need to he will wait .
Ether way she's in the wrong and if it was the second reason ive list above she clearly has delusions of entitlement .
She then comes on fab writes a well written post to try and get reassurance off of here for her action .to try and reinforce her possible beliefs of entitlement and the sycophantic mob puppets of the fanny fall over themselves not thinking . Hay if she was late for a job interviews she's not getting the job what ever the reason .a extreme example but you get the picture .
Like I said Good on the fella in question for having the self believe to say. hay this is disrespectful behavior towards me I'm out of here shag or the line or not . Like I have said more than once this is a guy who I have no doubt has plenty of options so does not need to put up with any behavior he finds unacceptable . |

"5 years ago I arranged a meet in a pud in South Woodford for 530pm .

Well in my earlier posting on this thread I said I would wait up to 90 minutes as I would be sending a message every 30 minutes before calling it a day.Looking at a lot of the responses it seems most would wait 30 minutes.I am not sure if I have been a idiot for waiting up to 90 minutes and I may consider changing this in the future. To the OP 7 minutes late is not a lot to be late and I would say it’s his loss. |

I see you grabbed a dictionary. Good on you. Still lots of basic spelling mistakes but points for the effort!
Also your effort on trying to disqualify me/my profile are in vain, dude. I have been here for 4 years. I have met hundreds of people on socials. They know what I am like.
I might have made a mistake by not communicating while en route but considering I was driving in heavy traffic, I value my safety/life much more than a meet and I don’t pick up my phone at all. Wrong on me … priorities…
You have no idea about me- I should have left 10 minutes before- how do you know I didn’t? This desire to antagonise may very well be a desperate cry for attention and validation from you, as you call mine. Mine being much better elaborated and with better spelling though.
I have zero interest in engaging with you any further, you are unpleasant and yes, you have upset me because you don’t know me from Adam and you’re judging me as if you did. So just let it go. Please. |

I think 30 minutes is a very reasonable time to finish a pint/glass of wine/coffee, have a catch up through emails or social media, and if by then the person hasn’t communicated and not turned up, it is a time to leave. But of courseeveryone is different and that is ok too! I personalky wouldn’t wait 90 minutes or the 10 minutes other PP have said, but that is your choice. Whatever you’re comfortable with. |

" Guess you failed his test OP You may not like to here this , but good on him for walking away .you was late you should have left 10 minutes earlier .the only excuse for lateness in my book would be something like the cars just blown up .
Oh I live in reality alright she could be arsed to make sure she was on time , all she had to do was make sure she left 15 minutes earlier the guy most likely had a rule if your not on time it means you don't respect me enough to make sure your on time . So bye bye because the world is full of women who are.
Like I said a guy who has the balls for the lack of a better word to think like that and not put up with behavior he finds unexceptable is a guy who is not with out female company of that I'd bet my life savings on .
Please. "
OP your right my spelling and grammar are very bad but that's because I have mild dyslexia and dysgraphia .
This was not diagnosed untill my late twenties when I went to school in the eighties I bunk off all my English classes because I didn't like looking the fool in the class .
You not to know this about me so hay ho for trying to humiliate me on my gramme . I open myself up such behavior by posting when I know my short coming . I'm fully awear of what the out come may be if I choose to post with my short comings . And your entitled to say what you want about my short comings as it says more about you and your attitude than it does me so you can have that .
Secondly you posted on the forum looking for honest opinions ive been 100% honest with my thoughts on what happened this was not done deliberately to offend you .
Opinions are like arseholes we all have one and most are full of shit , well all the ones that disagree with our own .
I will leave it here and no longer post in this thread as a signed of respect but I will add this, don't post in the forum looking for opinions if you think your going to be upset by other people's opinion on the subject .

I might not agree with the points you've made but I'm very sorry you've been rediculed for your disability. I have dyslexia too so often make grammatical errors and it's always so disheartening when people are more focused on scoring cheap points over that than responding to what you actually have to say. |

"Well in my earlier posting on this thread I said I would wait up to 90 minutes as I would be sending a message every 30 minutes before calling it a day.Looking at a lot of the responses it seems most would wait 30 minutes.I am not sure if I have been a idiot for waiting up to 90 minutes and I may consider changing this in the future. To the OP 7 minutes late is not a lot to be late and I would say it’s his loss.
" . I agree 30 minutes is about right unless there is a message saying running late for whatever reason. The reasons I said I I would wait 90 minutes are I guess I am a little to trusting trying to give everyone enough time so in future I may limit it to 60 minutes |

Most of my meets off here have been at mine and my standard rule is if they have not arrived or no communication within 30 minutes of the arranged time I assume they are a no show. This is communicated upfront.
When I used to do kink socials I had a bit more leniency as know people can be nervous etc and a few no shows. |

While I'm not dyslexic, or at least not diagnosed. My written grammar and spelling is awful and it really frustrates me as well when people pick up on that instead of focusing on what I'm actually saying
This is not me agreeing with you btw I still think that you're being very rude but this one point about spelling/grammar I can understand |

"Hah.
Do you? "
“Most respected person on Fab”. That’s a big call! |

He probably shit the bed when realised the meet was becoming real maybe? 7 minutes is no time at all.
Also, if there are no TDAs or NOTAMS on my flight path, drop me a PM |

I once waited an hour for someone, he promised me he would turn up, said he’d never stood anyone up, yet there I was freezing… I checked and rechecked Fab for messages, but he hadn’t been on for ages, eventually I sent him a message reminding him I didn’t have Kik with me as that app was on my iPad not my phone, so if he’d left messages I wouldn’t get them …. He eventually did get my message on Fab and was very apologetic and explained he’d got carted off to hospital. We did meet up a few days later.
But it doesn’t matter if you’re ill or they are, communication is key |
