Scientists are 'astonished' that they have grown cress in moon dust and now believe growing crops on the moon is possible and may lead to cultivation and settlement on the moon.
Tom is astonished that these science types are surprised. They really are as thick as mince. Tom grows his cress on kitchen paper. It grows anywhere. Same old story with these science types. Too much education and no common sense.

Bit harsh. They are hardly lunatics, and just because you can grow cress on kitchen paper doesn’t mean it can grow on anything. The Chinese tried it and failed.
The fact that lunar soil has been used to cultivate plant life successfully is a huge step forward for future exploration and habitation of the Moon. |

"It's about growing cress...
It grows everywhere...why the surprise? "
How long can you keep cress alive on a paper towel? How long did they keep it alive in moon dust? I suspect their surprise may have something to do with a difference between these two answers - or, you may be right and, they're just idiots.
