Obviously it depends on the level of hurt they have done towards me in the past. But generally speaking I would be someone who would listen and advise them on help they can/should seek.

Would you? "
Not sure, probably. You can only be hurt of you care and that sort of thing just doesn't vanish |

I believe the OP means; think of the person that has hurt you most in your life. Now imagine that same person turning up at your door asking for help. Would you help them?
In my case, an ex who destroyed my life. I don't think she meant to but she is extremely self centred. Would I help her? Hell yes I would. |

It really does depend on the situation. If the bully from my school who made my life a misery for ten years showed up and said if he didn't get financial help from me he'd kill himself, then I'd help by buying him a rope. |

"Yes I would. Not because I'm soft but because I want to keep my conscious clear and it's not in my nature to kick people when they're down"
Exactly this!
If they hurt themselves I would feel guilty for the rest of my life…. |

Yes. The only way someone could hurt me was if I cared about them and once I care I don't stop just because they hurt me - I'm not conditional like that.
I won't put up with being hurt but taking myself out of that situation doesn't require hating the person concerned.

I believe that everyone's behaviour reflects upon their true selves. Using someone else's behaviour to disguise or excuse your own is IMHO a sign of weak character.
If it was in my gift I'd literally help anyone that I could irrespective of what they meant to me. |

Nope. I'd watch from the window as they skulked off defeated as well.

Interesting post, the only person to ever truly break my heart did just this (well a phone call rather than physical appearance), and yes I was there for them and helped them work through some stuff. |

Not. A. Chance.
She was a nasty piece of work who not only assaulted my daughter, then tried to emotionally bl*ckmail me with pretending to take her own life and also told the parents of my daughters friends we split because I cheated on her.
Rant over. |

I would listen to their problem and then decide. If they were about to drop dead on my doorstep then yes of course I'd help, if they were in debt and needed money then it would be no. It's all about context. |
