The old picky tea as my mam called it.. what kind of things did you all have.

Tinned Salmon sandwiches

Mr. Kipling French Fancies were my favourite. She would always make a Birds trifle too

Happy times

You’ve summed it up there. Tinned salmon sandwiches and Birds trifle. Those were the days

Scotch egg and Branson pickle was another favourite nibble

I remember Viennese Whirls, corned beef and Billy bear slice sandwiches being a staple of my Mums. Oh and tinned Tuna with salt and vinegar sandwiches.

The only evening of the week she ever got off from cooking. In defence of my Dad he worked ridiculous long hours 6 days a week to provide for us all. Sadly he didn't live to good a good age to enjoy the fruits of his labour.

My mam would cook the Sunday lunch and bake for 'high tea' as it was called in our house.

We would have home made cakes and scones, ham and egg pie and all sorts of other delicious delights.

No topic of conversation was taboo either
