Dissolvable stitches

I has my wisdom tooth out nearly 2 weeks ago, which proved more difficult than expected and the had to cut my gum. She put stitches in and said they should be gone in 2 weeks time.

The stitches do not look like they are dissolving at all, and are just flapping around at the back of my mouth and are rather annoying!

Do I have to go back to the dentist to get then removed or can I just go to my gp? Or will they eventually go?

oh im dreading the day my wisdom teeth come through..

Id call up your dentist and just explain the issue. they might want to check to see if the wound is healing up correctly

Was this in your gum? I'm a little paranoid about cutting them out myself.

They usually do dissolve , but if you are still concerned after the weekend, call your dentist.

not far from iceland,,,,,, tescos is nearer though :-) (near leeds)

I thought it was the circulation of blood that caused them to disolve,.. i ve had the odd ones that havent dissolved completely, i gave mine a gentle pull with tweezers ... . not had any in my mouth though,

dentist or nurse...

Looked like i had been attacked when i had mine done my face and neck were black and blue.

Had all 4 done at once all of mine were hooked on the next tooth so couldn't come through

They did dissolve but it was like having a mouth full of cotton wool for days
