I feel your pain hun, I did care for a few years and wondered if I really made any money half the time with maintain cars, food if I couldn't go home, other expenses. I started doing something that pays far far better but most of the time isn't that nice. I'm not sure which makes me more miserable xx |

"I've just been paid just under 2k pay rise , sounds good but with everything going up is mine inline with others"
It sounds okay but after tax / NI is only around £100 a month.
Inflation is around 9% in the uk so you need that to keep up with costs.
I got an uplift of 20% on my basic and 50% increase to my bonus and then a further 7.4% cost of living on my basic so am very happy and motivated |

Depends on what % increase it was I suppose only 5 %"
Well if maths is correct you’re not doing too badly . Lots of people get very little or no pay rises unfortunately. |

You should look for another firm that will pay you properly for it. |

3.1% which on my state pension equates to a rise of £27 per calender month.
Fortunately in addition of a number of private pensions I do also have independant means which all helps to cushion the recent across the board price rises. |

I got a pay rise of £1200 per year, but it tips me into a higher tax band, and with the increase in NI, the increased mandatory pension contribution and removal of my wfh allowance as the office is now open and available, I actually take home £20 per month less than before my pay rise.
And that's before the extra £150 per month in utilities, higher petrol and food costs and council tax... *sigh* |

Maybe look at saving into AVC if you can, which could bring you down to the lower tax band, hence saving on tax and also better pension later on. |

No payrise this year but the automotive industry is on its arse a bit and hubby has only been there since end of April last year.
Can't complain, hubbys job does pay 27% more than his old one. Plus he managed to find it during his garden leave period so he got a little bit of a payout from redundancy from his old job last year.
Happy for now, though keeping his ear to the ground for openings in the financial services industry. They offer very good employer contributions to pensions. |

We are just about to be balloted for strike action, they have tried to split the work force by offering £1500 across the board which would range between 8% for the lowest paid down to 2.2% for the highest.
We are pushing for 10% for everyone. |

Clever if unethical move by management. Glad it did not work. We are also looking towards strike action potentially. |

That’s exactly our argument, especially as no pay rise for 3 years ( we did get a bonus of £500 for working through covid which was non pensionable) |

You can’t knock the senior team on their thinking especially when 80% of the work force have been on less than 5 years = the biggest rise for them so hopefully they will join us in voting for action instead of thinking it’s a good deal. |

About £2k. Also, my last job had a company car which I had some residual benefit-in-kind payment added to my tax bill, which has now been paid off, adding a further £30 per month take-home on top of my rise. |

Yeah you're spot on...silly things like having to buy a drink if you've drank it already & not made it home..all adds up! Tyres springs all getting battered.
Glad you're on better money but sad you're still no happier...its a mare |

We're public sector so 1.75%, obviously when inflation is 7% it's less than required. |

I don’t get it yet as I’m still in my probation period - but mine will go up 63p ph in July. I’ll start paying pension contributions then though - so my take home pay will be less than it is now.
I’ve only 13 years left to work though and virtually nothing in pensions/savings though - so I’ll be putting away as much as I can once the kids are less dependent. Xx |

"Pfft. I only get Carer's Allowance and it's gone up by a whole £1 a week.
That's more than some of us working are getting. Just saying. "
For working folk, I would hope for something that takes up almost every day and night of your existence would be worth more than £69 a week. |

We got a whole 6.6% increase. Took us up a whole 59p per hour. Unfortunately the minimum wage increase was part of that increase. |

We have strike action going just now for something similar. What we asked for and what is being offered isn't far apart so it has all gone to fuck. |

25% but that isn't our annual inflation etc, that was because I'd reached 12 months with the company...
I'll find out about inflation increase soon, we got 4% last year so I'm hoping this year will be more than that. |
