This gets me so excited

Cook them in white wine & chicken stock with garlic & rosemary! I’m sure I’ve posted this on so many threads but I’ll never go back to using red wine with lamb !

I don't get slo cookers. Is it an energy saving thing? What's wrong with a casserole dish with a lid in an oven?

Probably using a lot more energy than a microwave or a pressure cooker, but its easy and the food is delicious.

Not so much a recipe but definitely a top tip. Make a lasagne using whatever recipe you normally use and layer it on the slow cooker for 4-6 hours. Thank me later

I don't have enough work top space and my cast iron casserole dish is my favourite tool in the kitchen.

Not where we seem to be...

"I don't get slo cookers. Is it an energy saving thing? What's wrong with a casserole dish with a lid in an oven?"

6am, put foodstuffs in slow cooker, switch on, go to work.

6pm, come home, turn off slow cooker, decant foodstuffs, eat.

Job done.

Top tip, slow cooker bags.

Apart from strong meaty flavours they turn everything into one bland mash with too much water in it. Also take away any pleasure from cooking.

One it’s an energy saving thing plus it saves time, put it on go to work get home food is ready. Plus can use cheaper cuts of meat and they come out so tender. For me, my flat doesn’t end up a hot sauna every time I cook.

Energy wise a quick Google gives you…..

The Centre for Sustainable Energy. The Centre for Sustainable Energy estimates that average electricity usage of an electric oven is between 2-2.2kWh, while a microwave uses between 0.6-1.5kWh. On the other hand, a slow cooker uses approximately 0.7kWh for eight hours of usage
