At what age would you let your kids go places without you? I'm talking simple trips, like to see friends or to go to the sweet shop or park.
I'm trying to remember how old I was when I used to get on my bike and go see my friends for the day. We used to go play in the park and go home for food. Definitely by age 10, but it could have been earlier.
My oldest pair have discovered school friends down the road and I've had kids coming and going through the house recently. It's nice if slightly chaotic.
I know it depends on the child, but I think it suits our 7 & 9 year olds to be getting out and about without us |

For me, I said to my kids at that age, if you can’t see the house, you’re too far. Whether that’s 10 yards round the corner or 200 yards in front of the house.
But from about 11/12 onward I started to relax a bit more |
