I looked at a profile and saw the comment no Roadmen types.
Now I have a blue collar job.
However this does not define me.
I have a wide range of interests read profusely and dress well. Yet on this site as soon as I say what I do for a living more often than not I get deleted. Even after I have spoken to people for a time.

Your being to polite their looking for a rough and ready type if you ask me . such men are a dying breed and very rare now days because we live in a world where most not all I just had to get that in there because you know how some people are . Men spend more on beauty products , longer getting ready for a night out , agonise over how they look in selfies than your average woman does .
There just looking for the kind of guy who says fuck all of that, I've had a shave I smell nice now come here and let me Roger the living daylights out of you before I piss off now the pub for a game of darts . |

I agree. We're retired and people still ask what we used to do. They've often made assumptions about what it's likely to be beforehand too.
We do it ourselves. There's a guy near and we often speculate about what his job was.
I hope that we take people as they are rather than base our opinion on what job they do though |

Just for clarification this is the Collins dictionary definition of a roadman.
Some people use roadman to refer to a young person who spends a lot of time on the streets in a group, and who may be involved in selling drugs.

Road man is a guy that’s on the road a lot for a job. Aka, selling drugs. Doing petty crimes. Etc etc

I am more interested in what their interests are outside fabs.
With the initial chat(s) I would like to know if we have enough to chat about at a social which may then lead to more. If somebody is not interested in anything but sex or watching TV I would not be interested in meeting them.  |

I've been at opposite ends of the job scale so to speak. I have done heavy manual and downright manky jobs, customer facing jobs and now I work in an office environment. I'm the same person as I was nearly 40 years ago doing that manky job. The only difference being I'm wiser  and I know how to read people and work out who the arseholes are. |

They work on the roads and street corners selling drugs, they hang out on the streets, they have knife fights in broad daylight on a road, the pretty much are road men. Or boys. |
