Anxiety...that "hello darkness, my old friend " moment

That feeling of internal battle...

the devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other...

talking to the walls, because you don't want the words to reach anyone...

scared of being alone, but hate to be around people...

hundreds of people in your phone list and still in need of a friend...

Screaming internally but looking emotionless...

...it's just Anxiety man, take a deep breath in and remember the opposite of depression is expression...so just express yourself, in your own way ...you know tomorrow is another day

...and all this thread is a form of expression...thoughts and emotions transformed into words...I don't need people to check in on me, I don't need people to tell me "hope you ok" ...I finally have no fear when I say I'm not ok...and that's OK, because I finally am brave enough to say that I am good enough to get through this...

...it's just Anxiety man

It's very likely anxiety has a positive evolutionary function, an early warning system for possible harm. Unfortunately that developed when the harm was real and identifiable but in our modern world anxiety is often triggered by abstract or imagined danger. We are very much stone age brains in a digital age world.

I believe that you can't beat anxiety, you can control it and not let it consume you

.

When anxiety is overwhelming me I keep telling myself that it will pass.

Even though in the moment it’s the worst feeling, I know it’ll pass.

It’s debilitating sometimes though

Anxiety is a mental battle, do something you enjoy and that calms you down, do it on your own, like ive said in previous forum's , i go fishing , forget the world and just chill. theres a difference between real worry ( e.g. being thousands in debt and anxiety) find a happy place, go relax , contemplate and go back with a positive attitude

somewhere, someplace

Anxiety is definitely not my friend right now, she's having her fun and the battle is real for sure, but I know its not forever, it will pass. I will never be anxiety free but I will be the one who is in control.

Stress has an evolutionary function, and stress levels are and have been necessary for our survival... anxiety in itself manifests through overthinking and panic attacks, mostly linked to trauma and insecurities triggered through external factors (things out of our control), therefore I don't see how it can serve a function or be linked to something positive

I agree it rarely serves that function in our modern world, but our brains did not evolve in this environment. We evolved like all animals to deal with immediate danger and once that danger went then so did the stress and anxiety. Now faced with long term and abstract or imagined danger which we can't control it therefore become much harder to control our response.

True...if you interlink stress and anxiety, they become the same pressure bubble. I get what you are trying to say

I wish I couldn't relate but I completely understand your words.

It's not easy.

Hate anxiety and low confidence, completely different person when I'm alone in my car or at home than when I'm with people. Fear of making a fool of myself and saying something stupid.
